When Republicans in Missouri head to the polls, they are voting in what is called a nonbinding primary. That means no matter who wins the popular vote, it will not determine who wins the state's 52 delegates -- three of whom are unpledged Republican National Committee delegates.

On March 17, Missouri Republicans will caucus in counties to elect congressional district and state convention delegates. Then on April 21, they will select 24 of the state's 52 delegates and award them to presidential candidates. And then on June 2, the Missouri GOP will meet in a statewide convention to choose the remaining delegates.

Republicans run on a platform of wasting taxpayers money which is why they are holding this primary.

Santorum is absolutely dominating in Missouri. According to 538

Mr. Romney held leads early on in St. Louis City and St. Louis County, but has since lost them as more votes have been counted. In fact, Mr. Romney leads in just one Missouri county right now, Boone County, where only two precincts have reported results.

Non binding primary LOL aside, Mitt is having real trouble appealing to Midwestern voters.

Will repost as well:

Missouri moved up along with everyone else, but when they tried to move back behind the March firewall to avoid being penalized it got blocked by the State Senate. So they left the primary on the ballot and just made it non-binding.

I thought he would coast "somewhat" easily to the GE but the midwest and south is going to give him a run for his money.

I still think Romney has this in the bag but if there is a Santorum surge it will keep us and the news media entertained for a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, RomneyPAC will be busy destroying the sterling reputation of one Rick Santorum.

Santorum has to be a pain in Romney's ass right now.

If anyone should be concerned, I would think it would be Gingrich. Romney's superPAC is more than capable of handling Santorum. They'll just run 30 second ads with nothing more than an image Google results on one Santorum and call it a day.

What is happening with Colorado, why so slow in updating?

Well, their polls close later (I think it's 8 MST) where the other 2 were on Central time. Missouri closed at 7 CST too, so they've been dark for a while.

CNN updated about 20 minutes ago with the results of 2 of the more populous counties, which of course went for Romney. So it's really going to be a battle to see if Romney can hold the kind of margins he needs in the more populous counties to overshadow the less populous rural counties.

So, I stopped bothering to check stuff the past couple days because Romney seemed a lock. Where the fuck did Santorum get momentum from again?

Meh, Newt was the only one that could beat Mitt for the nomination. Thus, these primaries' results of tonight will hurt Newt much more than Mitt.

Missouri votes for Santorum (thus far): 132k
Missouri delegates: 0

Nevada votes for Romney: 16,486
Nevada delegates: 14

And yet Nevada was hailed as a "big" win. Seems pretty clear republican voters are rejecting Romney

CNN continues with great headlines on their webpage

All the candidates are spending insane amounts of money destroying each other, making each other essentially unelectable. As long as this continues, primary winners will continue to flux, since voters won't be able to make up their minds.

No, they are really not. Only Mitt has a lot of money.

Santorum has to be a pain in Romney's ass right now.

Santorum is a pain in Gingrich's ass, as long as Santorum is there the conservative votes are split, Gingrich would much rather have that all to himself because he can't sustain his campaign with Santorum taking votes from him and putting him in a distant second/third, the money will dry up quickly.

A couple more primaries like the ones tonight and Newt is going to be done.

Public Policy Polling (D) pollster Tom Jensen tweeted that if former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) conintues to perform as he has in Missouri and Minnesota, he might be able to win in Colorado too, a state which was expected to be strongly in the Romney column. "Santorum REALLY out performing his poll numbers in MO and MN," Jensen tweeted. "He could win CO too if the same happens there."
