just a few questions and the results are quite interesting, I had never heard of Kent Mesplay before 5 minutes ago...

my results are

I wonder what would happen if every voter was forced to do this before voting. Or if people had to fill out this survey and the candidate closest to them would be their vote, instead of you know the usual traditional voting system.

I wonder what would happen if every voter was forced to do this before voting. Or if people could only "vote" by filling out this survey and then the candidate with the highest score (close to a person = more points, more people = more points) would win the election.

probably bye bye two party state...

"Do you support the theory of Evolution?"

yeah I can tell this was developed by a real intellectual titan

Well, for one, you'd end up with manifestly unqualified and unfit candidates who just happened to think the same things you do. Voting for someone isn't just about making sure they agree with you on everything (delegate model of representation), but also entrusting them to synthesize and come up with new ideas, lead in an open and honest manner, effectively manage those below them, make politically unpopular decisions (including decisions you don't like) when they are necessary, etc.

Gary Johnson 84%

There's also the matter of what a candidate claims vs. what they actually do once in office.

I got Gary Johnson, but I find it a bit misleading because we strongly disagree on economic issues, which are kind of a big deal in this particular election.

Kent Mesplay, though maybe someone who has never been to America (me!) should not be a judge on domestic issues.
Mesplay, Johnson, Obama, Ron Paul, Romney in that order. I know nothing about Mesplay or Johnson, Ron Paul seems a bit of a loony, Romney is just Romney.

I guess I'm still an Obama guy. Well, I've always agreed with him on a lot of things. My problems were mostly with how effective his administration has been, but there are a lot of factors invovled there.

I was curious about the Mesplay guy.

I'm trying to understand how he had a long period of unemployment after getting an engineering degree from Mudd then a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern. And now he's an Air Quality Inspector?

He has $101 cash on hand for the reaminder of his 2012 campaign.

90% match with Jill Stein, 78% match with Obama.
She seems really great tbh, pretty much all her views match up with mine and are very reasonable.

I'm not American, but I got:

84% Jill Stein
83% Kent Mesplay
75% Obama

I have no idea who the first two are.

Not american:
Kent Mesplay 90%
Jill Stein 83%
Obama 69%
Ron Paul 24%
Mitt Romney 8%

Science probably made a big difference.

Not an American and I had no real insight into some of the questions (such as the illegal immigrant situation).
That said, 81% Obama. Shocking stuff.

Not that Political Compass is perfect--not at all, actually I think it has a lot of structural biases built in--but I really think the questions asked are significantly more useful than this.

both green candidates apparently.
Sadly they have even less chance in the US than in the UK...
damn first past the post...
To America, we're all hippies :p

I agree, but I like answering these kinds of quizzes. I'm sure a lot of people answer them for fun as well.

I would imagine most people on here were have pretty similar results. If this was a creationist forum it would be a different kettle of fish for sure.

You are a moderate Green. You are socially and fiscally Liberal. Despite your strong Green stances, you may tend to disagree with the party on economic, domestic policy, and science issues.

No real surprise for me. I side with Obama 82%

I too have never heard of Jill Stein before this little quiz but she was in second place.

I'm surprised Obama was as low as 70%. This feels like it was created to say "you should support candidates like Kent Mesplay" instead of Bams or Mittens

Hmm, Romney 87% and Obama 86%, don't know how I managed that.

Romney came out on top for me as well, but Obama was still fairly high. If you're a moderate, like I am, I think it tends to get higher numbers for both candidates like that. The problem for me is, while I'm not very likely to vote for Romney, I'm also not all that happy with the job Obama has done either.
