Sony prepping PlayStation Plus revamp with top tier free games, expansion to Vita.

Sony is readying a revamp of PlayStation Plus to be revealed during its E3 press conference, Eurogamer understands.

Multiple sources have indicated that part of Sony's E3 press conference, set for Monday 4th June, will be devoted to running through the revamp, which is designed to help convince more people to sign up to the premium subscription service.

One of the ways Sony will do this is by giving subscribers top tier games for free, and implementing proper integration with PS Vita. Plus on Vita will offer Vita exclusive titles and DLC and cloud services that mean you won't have to connect the handheld to a PlayStation 3 or a PC to back up saves and other content.

That's pretty cool, but this has me just as interested;

The revamp of PlayStation Plus marks the beginning of a wider effort to improve the PlayStation Network across multiple devices over the coming year, and, we've heard, may include a new, redesigned PlayStation Store that also facilitates purchases from a proper PC web store similar to Xbox Marketplace.

I feel like I have been hearing whispers about the a PS store redesign + Web store for over a year now.


Hope this is true as a PS+ member.

Vita seems to have some cool games now and ports of games I would rather play on a handheld. Sony just need to get the systems + memory card price in order and Ill get one.

Seriously, long overdue. Hopefully it's decent and isn't restricted to Plus subscribers.

Agreed. I've been a member roughly since the service started, and its given me so much free stuff. Excellent service.
 
I'm glad that they're doing this and expanding it, but personally I'm much better off with the free service right now. I hope they maintain the two tiers going forward (I want to be able to play online without paying a subscription). I will almost certainly switch over to Plus at some point, when I find myself spending a lot more money on the network and really wanting the additional features.
 
I might jump in if they deliver more Vita content.

PS Plus is already amazing so I can only wonder what type of stuff they'll start giving away, starting next Tuesday hopefully since it'll be a day after their conference.

Oh my God, finally. I feel like I've been complaining about this every other day since I joined PSN with the VITA.

I imagine it still will be; the article doesn't actually mention how you'll be getting those "A" games.

It is possible, but sales on PS+ subs are far more infrequent than those for XBL.
 
I enjoy PS+. It gives great discounts on new things and some good discounts on old things. I think i get more use out of it for the discounts, but the free games are, of course, great.

I hope if they add different tiers, they at least keep the one they have at the moment. I don't think i really want anything different really. I like the mix of new/old games and discounts etc.
 
Sounds good to me. I was already planning on renewing my subscription but this will propably seal it. We'll see how this pans out at E3.

It's rare, but possible. Sony actually sent a bunch of people three month's worth of free codes earlier this year, which is how I got sucked in (got $50 worth of free games that I was definitely buying otherwise in those three months).
 
I got PS+ when the RE games were on sale and I've kept it ever since. Every week new games are free and having Journey a week early was amazing
 
It's strange to me how terrible the PS Store is in terms of web presence, especially considering their first iteration on PS3 was essentially a website.
 
Whatever the result may be, they should never divide services into options, that would suck. Even if it's a slight price increase, if they're going to add even more value to the subscription, no complaints from me.
