Among the Sleep - A horror adventure with a twist

It's a great concept, but what gameplay differences are there going to be due to your character being an infant, aside from the camera lower to the ground?

You won't be able to defend yourself and you'll just have to run and hide. It should be similar to Amnesia.

very interesting

i'm surprised the baby is not crying after such horrible things happen.

The worlds most cognisant and capable 2 year old?

The twist will be
it's a regular night and the poor baby is just imagining all kinds of horror stuff and the ghost is actually one of his parents
. At least that's what I would imagine.

I'll probably never play this 'cause even the freaking trailer is scary as fuck.

Needs to fall on its face more. Not really a 2 year old if it does not spend most of its time in tears or drooling.

I think the same as what your spoiler says.

I'm definitely interested in this.

Definitely intrigued. It has the creepy factor down. I'm going to guess that the kids imagination kicks in half way through the game because a house is only so big. Unless this kid lives in a mansion/castle. Then bring on the ballroom boss fight

The protagonist probably shouldn't be crawling if he or she is two years old.

Watching the video, there are times where it looks like the child could be walking, but then there's another point where you can clearly see his or her hands treading along the ground as though crawling. But by age two, a kid should be able to walk quite proficiently - and run, too.

They're also fairly good at talking by this point - left alone in an unfamiliar situation, a two-year-old's first instinct would surely be to call for its parents.

It's a neat idea, but I think the creators may be a bit unclear on what a two-year-old is capable of. Either that, or they're torn between wanting an infant protagonist but needing to provide the player with a more mature set of physical abilities.

Pretty sure he alternates between walking and crawling, like crawling under the table to hide.

Should age the kid a bit so it's more believable. Horror bits might become unintentionally comical. The atmosphere is great though.

The impression I got was that the kid was capable of walking a little but still dependent on crawling as primary form of movement. Maybe that's still within normal development... I'm no expert of course. But it struck me as signifying an age notably younger than two. Maybe one and a half?

It reminds me of that one scene in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. That scene still freaks me out to this day.

Yeah that's where I kind of hope it goes too.

Definitely looks interesting - concept has potential!

Stuff like this, Lone Survivor, and Home is still keeping horror alive... rather reassuring.

From their blog:

I guess we should use this moment to clarify a few misconceptions that’s been forming though. Firstly, you will not be crawling 100% of the time; this is mostly something you choose to do (to reach places and hide from dangers etc.)

I love the concept. I think it creates a whole new type of level design that we overlook in a lot of games. Suddenly, that drop from the stairs is 7x as high, or having to simply get up to a counter to get something involves platforming. It's not unique in that it's still just platforming and traversal, but it's a unique perspective at least.

I'm very intrigued.
