As part of a Famitsu.com dialogue between Takumi and Ace Attorney movie director Takashi Miike, Takumi said "Production on Layton vs Ace Attorney is at its climax. It's like my entire life is focused on it. While I still can't say much, it's progressing well, so please wait a bit more."

Takumi contrasted his work on Layton vs Ace Attorney with his less hands-on role on the Ace Attorney movie, saying "While [Latyon vs Ace Attorney] is being developed jointly with Level-5, games are my job, so I can't just leave it to someone else like with the movie."

Announced at Level-5 Vision in October 2010, MIA for nearly a year, shown at TGS 2011 and more thoroughly at L5V last October, MIA again since then. Typical for Level-5, really.

How come those games never get ported to other consoles? Whats the actual reason behind it?
Ace 1 got ported to ios, but that was it. Layton wont go anywhere else

Well they have localized and published/marketed every single DS Layton game so far so they're still kinda involved.

it is a very different game from all the previous layton and the only similarities are the artstyle and name.

Well... It is Level-5 doing the localisation, and not Capcpom, so we do have a considerably higher chance of seeing it.

What's so crappy looking about Layton Brothers? Obviously it doesn't have the same productions values in terms of cinematics, but a murder mistery seems much more interesting than puzzles personally. Even if I do enjoy Layton tons.

Crappy might have been the wrong word, but I wouldn't hesitate in calling it utterly shameless and an abuse of the IP. It's a generic game in an unrelated genre that has had the IP slapped halfheartedly upon it. It's a cynical tie-in, and is in no way reflective of the future of the series.
