The second in the series of four debates for the 2012 United States Presidential election is coming up!

Date: Thursday, October 11th
Time: 9:00-10:30 pm EST
Place: Centre College, Danville, Kentucky

Format: The debate will cover both foreign and domestic topics and be divided into nine time segments of approximately 10 minutes each. The moderator will ask an opening question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the question.

Who will win? What will play worse -- the dumb stuff Biden says accidentally or the misleading stuff Ryan says intentionally? There's only one way to find out, and that's to watch the media coverage after the debates! But while you're waiting for that, you may as well tune into the actual debate itself.

Wonder how much BS Ryan will spew. Let's see what the fact checkers are left with after this one! I get the feeling that Ryan will win, but it will be a similar, say whatever needs to be said that sounds best sort of affair.

Biden's got nothing to lose, since the GOP has basically convinced themselves he's a complete idiot, so I hope he calls out the inevitably hugely misleading shit Ryan will be saying.

Ryan could be a tough challenger, but I expect him to lie more than Romney did last week. If Biden will call out Ryan's bullshit, this should be a piece of cake.

I have to think Joe has really been looking forward to this. He had to take it easy in '08, Ryan has done nothing but lie and deceive since he was added to the ticket, and he needs a strong performance after the debate last week.

I also feel there is a high chance that Joe literally 'sons' Ryan at some point.

He had years of "lol dumb old uncle Joe" sort of put downs. From both sides. How better to show everyone wrong by doing what Obama couldn't do himself last week?

Biden will have the advantage Romney had this time and Sarah Palin had last time. Beating up too hard on him will play like beating up on someone's grandpa. So Ryan will have to play softball.

That said, I find it sad that the implication in the OP is that it will play better for Ryan if he's honest than if he lies, since his lies seem more palatable than his truths.

That's actually a good point. The media may have stars in their eyes for the right wing boy genius, but they also seem to love good theatrics. As long as Joe doesn't say anything too gaffe-y, he should probably be good.
