If they manage to bring it like that with NOA where DD gets discounts and such will make the deluxe owners have even more excuse to buy digital

Hmmm, I'm taking this with a pinch of salt. Sony said the same thing about Vita games (download being cheaper than retail) but the total opposite happened.

Hmm the recommended retail price is as high as alot of the digital versions.

Buying a digital copy

+
convenience
No disc that could break

-
Cost more (Here in Sweden the retail price in stores is generally a bit cheaper than the recommended price.
You cant sell the digital version or trade it.
You have to buy a hdd (A 32gb isnt going to last for long with Blu-ray discs)

Great move Nintendo!

Vita's digital retail downloads are cheaper than retail when they're new; the problem is that Sony is really bad at keeping the prices current to what those games are now selling for right now.

I hope this translates over to the NA/EU eShop, both the discounts and the game selection.

I won't be getting any digital retail games on WiiU (I find it sorta pointless for a home console imo and a ~$5 discount isn't enough to persuade me), but I would still like to see the effort put in for those that will be going digital.

Probably translates to $5-7 cheaper. Combine that with the %10 deluxe digital promotion bonus points, and you get some considerable savings. Nice.

What's that in real money?

For downloads, assuming you mean USD:

FIFA - $96.42

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge - $79.25

Musou Orochi 3 Hyper - $79.25

Nintendo Land - $62.07

New Super Mario Bros. U - $75.29

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition - $79.00

Assassin's Creed III - $87.18

ZombiU - $79.25

Batman: Arkham City - Armored Edition - $68.94

Wow FIFA and Ass3 are really expensive in Japan. And those 2 particular games deserve/need to be more appealing to the japanese market. A full 1000-1500 yen less for the digital price would be more accurate imo.

How is FIFA not already appealing to Japan? They love soccer a great deal over there.

I'm glad to see I'll be able to download games directly from the eShop and, in the process, get a discount + the 10% reward program.

Importing from Japan is always pricey, there's not a lot of discounts like we can find on US or UK sites for example. "Old" games tend to stay at the same price unless they go Platinum/Best.

But the thing that will finally make me buy retail games on the eShop is the Nintendo Network ID...finally some way to register easily our e-purchases into a cloud profile and, I guess, not only on a per-console basis.

I really hope Warrior Orochi 3 will be a launch downloadable title in EU.
It'll be hard to find a retail copy in France.

Found some more games and info listed on Nintendo's site.

First party titles are cheaper to begin with, lowering the downloadable prices further would make the 3rd Party offering look even more expensive. I agree they should be cheaper than the boxed version, but i can understand why they are handling it this way.

If this is the case in the US then the first thing I buy after getting my system and launch games is my portable hard drive. It's getting pushed up the list ahead of several games.

Where the fuck is NOA with this kind of info. Damn they infuriate me. Hey NOA did you forget you fucking launch first!!!

Why are digital versions not cheaper across the board? To not piss off retailers too much? Which would really be messed up tbh.

Nirolak, I'm ashamed. There is a great joke answer here and you totally missed it.
