In search of the ultimate 80s-inspired synth cyberpunk playlist

So I've recently been listening to the EP from the Hotline Miami soundtrack (http://scattle.bandcamp.com/album/hotline-miami-the-takedown-ep), and I am jonesing to find some really good driving music for when it rains. I can think of no better style than the synth-heavy, dark and mellow retro future sounds of 80s inspired music. Off the top of my head, I've collected a pretty good group of tunes:

-Mass Effect 1 soundtrack
-Deus Ex Human Revolution soundtrack
-Blade Runner score
-Sinoia Caves

I need some help finding some other music that sort of fits this style. Any help is super appreciated! Indie artists, movie score, doesn't matter to me as long as it sounds like you're traversing a neon-covered urbanscape when you listen to it.

This is basically my dream playlist. I hope more people deliver some suggestions.

From me, I shall suggest Tangerine Dream.

synthy:
steve moore - saturnalia
steve moore - cepheid
lovelock - deco delight
hologram - skyrunner
kuedo - flight path

or more trancey/ambient (the whole ultimae label is pretty much this):
solar fields - sol
aes dana - digitalys
H.U.V.A. network - dissolving time

or more experimental/vanguard, this isn't really 'cyberpunk', but to me it's futuristic in a really eclectic way:
future sound of london - flak
future sound of london - dead skin cells
tetsu inoue - journey to ixtlan
 
Check out Chromatics' Night Drive and Symmetry's "Themes for an Imaginary Film" (it was actually the original score to Drive before the studio nixed it). Also if want something more upbeat but of a similar aesthetic, check out some italo, Mixed Up in the Hague is a fantastic italo mix.
 
fucking AWESOME thread. synthpop and synthatmospheric chit is my favorite genre. The fall of Mass Effect started not in its gameplay elements, but in its change of atmosphere and ambience. The OST was THE change that ended mass effect for me. You can't compare the OST of ME1 and ME2, like, literally can't because they are too different stylistically.

About ME; while I agree with you, I find it really odd that when I listen to the soundtrack as a whole, there's a disconnect with what I hear in-game and what is actually there. It's strange; in-game there's a definite style and vibe to the music, but when the OST plays, I noticed that the majority of it is a clash of synth and orchestral elements, with the latter being an issue for me.

Thing is in-game the majority of stuff I hear is The Normandy, Presidium/Wards, Galaxy Map, etc etc...

Man those couple of songs are so amazing.

Jeremy Schmidt did that soundtrack for that movie! He's the guy from Sinoia Caves, which I linked to in the OP.

I had heard he was going to release an EP of the music from that movie, which I so desperately want. The song that plays when Barry initiates the Sentionauts is exactly the type of thing that would fit in with this thread.
