Another year has passed since my first challenge thread (http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=456108) which I totally lost. Neuromancer walked away with a copy of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, though. Well this year I think I can actually do it. Well, I hope I can.
Rules are basically the same as last year:
Hi GAF
I am tired of being a fat guy. I want to be a not so fat guy. I have realized that the only thing that really motivates me is not wanting to blow money, and I know that the only thing that motivates others is the prospect of some sort of prize. So with that, I am issuing a challenge to myself and anyone that wants to participate.
Here are the rules:
Anyone that wants to compete can. The prize you can win is one new video game of your choice, up to a maximum value of $60. HOWEVER, to have a chance to win, you have to join in the weight loss "fun". From now until December 31, 2012 at 11:59pm CST, sign up for the weight loss challenge, and then from January 1 through June 30, 2013 (also at 11:59 pm CST) just do what you want to do to lose weight.
But how can I win, you ask? It's simple. I will also be attempting to lose weight. The goal is to lose more percentage-wise than me. But it's not THAT simple, for you see, on July 1 or there about, I will take and find the average percentage lost across all participants, and if it is greater than whatever percentage I lose, then I will pick one person to win a video game of their choice. Everyone likes video games, right? I hope.
So yeah, you'll have to update weekly (preferred, but at least bi-weekly) with your weight loss as of that point. Reason that I want weekly updates is so I stay motivated myself. So if you don't update at least once every two weeks, you are out of the contest. However I know that life happens, so I will allow exactly one skip "weigh in", so you have one time where you only have to update once in three weeks, if that makes sense. But it's better to keep everyone motivated, right?
I will also give anyone that signs up a choice to drop out by the end of January 2013 if they wish. Keep in mind that dropping out if you are not into the whole thing helps your fellow GAFfers.
So that's the plan to motivate me. You may possibly win a brand new video game, I may possibly not have to spend money, and we all may possibly lose some weight. Cost to you is nothing but your time and effort.
Contest is open to any GAF member that has a mailing address where they can receive a package from Amazon.com
Most importantly, you should post in this thread! Post what is working for you, what isn't, etc. Sure you're letting me in on your secrets, but you are also bringing up the average of the entire group, so you're helping your chances to win as well!
So who is in? Sign up now, and post your starting weight during the first week of January. Any questions, let me know.
Yeah, the prize may suck, especially since it's a random drawing, but I'm poor.
TO ENTER: post the following, in this format:
Your height
Your age
Your current weight (even if approximate, although an official weight will have to be posted within the first week of January)
Your goal weight (if you have one) (will not have any impact on any winning, just for fun)
Then the first week of January, add your actual weight in a new post. For weighing yourself, any old scale will do, as long as you use the same scale throughout the duration of the challenge. Pictures of the scale reading are recommended, but not necessary.
I will also hold a drawing for a $20 eshop/psn/xbla card (winners choice) among anyone that posts a before picture at the start, and an after picture at the end, whether I win the challenge or not.
(mods, please delete if this kind of thing is frowned upon)
As for me,
Age: 29 year olds male
Height: 6 foot 0 inches
Current weight: 282lbs (up from last year...)
Goal weight: 225 lbs
I will keep things updated a little more than last year.
Anyone in?
