I'm sure we all have a few of those. Those songs you put on the playlists when you're in one of those moods, or the songs that get you a little choked up when they come on the radio. Those sappy songs we hate to admit that we love.

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova - "Falling Slowly"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8mtXwtapX4

Hansard doesn't know the meaning of subtlety, and it's impossible to look cool while listening to this song, but fuck, it's so full of feeling. It's hard not to sing along with the chorus. It's a corny, but powerful song.

Pearl Jam - "Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z0cKtSlHOU

Downtempo, introspective Eddie Veder is a guilty pleasure of mine. His vocals are emotive and anyone who's lost somebody can relate to the message of this song. I have and this song hits me really hard.

Share yours with me.

Float On. It's far more sentimental and I dunno, "hang on through the tough times buddy!" than the rest of Modest Mouse's catalog, but I can't help but love it.

cause everytime we touch i get this feeling...

"Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.

When my now girlfriend and I were still in that flirty, "just talking" stage, she came over to my apartment and showed me this song on YouTube. We would play it in my car and sing it together after that. It was "our song." Even when I hear it now, 3 years later, it brings back those good memories of when we were falling in love.
*barf* sappy overload.

Vincent by Don McLean.

I am including an unrelated picture because I don't think anybody will pay attention to this post without it. Rather, they'll just skip over it to post their own song. So, forgive me. But, if you skipped through the thread and stopped when you saw this picture and read my post, you can't be mad at me.

Anyway, it's a really beautiful song, and I feel it's a touching, sympathetic tribute to artists everywhere. I've heard it was 2Pac's favorite song in the world, and when he was dying, they played it on repeat in his hospital room.

Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. I have a daughter I love so very much, so this song just crushes me like nothing. I will not link to it, because I am in no mood to turn into a quivering blob right now.

Belle and Sebastian - We Rule The School

I don't think I understand the definition of sappy :l

Oh fuck, that's sad. That whole album is equally sober.

For me, Patches is this.

That goddamned Lumineers song. It's so sweet and sappy, stirs up them happy tears bro.

Pearl Jam's Stay with Me, too.

Last Christmas by Wham! gets me, man. It knows me.

Deb Talan- Forgiven She's got the weirdest frickin' voice, but this song was on some movie I was watching on the TV during a really hard time in my life, and it makes me pretty sad to hear it every time, even though it's sort of uplifting and happy.

Actually, anything by her group The Weepies. I mean, the name just implies sad, sentimental and maudlin music.
