Theme: "Underground"

We're having a little bit of a celebration over here.. and it's about a group of people who had the audacity to dream about running trains beneath London itself!

On that note.. Write whatever... interpret this theme however you like. Even if it's just a word association to the word Underground.. Run with it!

Optional Secondary Objective: "er.. this here is a picture of Baker Street Station"

So, basically, I got nothing.. Go bonkers..

Set your own challenge. See it through.

All those gray years of toil in the machine well oiled
Foiled hot coal, a memento of the goal to fill the hole
Rebel uniform standardized, no hard edged pebbles
The deafening treble announcing definite trouble pouncing
No denouncing, no faces, no names, no cases, no shame

We, of the earth, shooting upwards the right of given berth
Dearth of mirth, scoff the dirt of the scuff, sand off the rough
Clutch a puff as opposed to straws, a hutch has room too much
Ideals and propaganda as such, hide meals lest the other gander

Its a mirror for either side, pillars erected of our hide
Into our roles slide, slither, devour their vows by the hour
My bullet is a fairer judge, than a skillet bearer budged
Grudge eternal lugged by the transient, embalmed infernal

The blues were manufactured, in the same factories as actors
The thorium reactor foiled the hot coal out of zeitgeist memoriam
Glory done? The same hole dug tons of both sides of the story spun
My pilgrimage to the pillaged hole, but it'll take a village to make it whole

I guess we can give another half a day, but otherwise AnkitT wins. By default. I am going to post the poem I've been working on this last week, though am not quite as happy as I'd have like it to be.

Underground. The light
gathers over the lady in green,
standing behind the lad in the train. It arrives
swiftly before sliding before slowing, halts juttering.
Overground the ground shakes with the passage of its hulking.
Boots, sandals, feet pound the ground. Over and under the earth
shakes with the passage of feet into the passage of the train. The train
shudders, draws inwards. The doors close. Under the tracks a presence
of stature diminiuitive scurries, hurries, the wheels rumble forward - lights turn on,
the lady in green sits down as she thanks the lad in the train. He nods, tips his cap.

Deep and deep below the ground
my heart lies hidden.

It lies within a chest, thrice-locked and iron-bound
high in the branches of a tree of gold and steel
that shifts in the breath of a nameless wind.

Beneath the tree, a beast of earth and fire waits.
With razor teeth, with dagger claws,
with scaly hide and eyes of black
it stands and guards.

Around that beast stand fortress walls
built slowly over eons
of dripping limestone and bubbling molten rock.
Its roots are deep,
its walls cannot be breached

All stand--those walls, the beast, that tree--upon an islet,
a spar of rock within a sea
that boils and foams and knows no touch of light.

No ships traverse the sea.
No door unseals the walls.
No blade may pierce the beast.
No path ascends the tree.
No key undoes the locks.

Deep and deep beneath the earth
my heart waits hidden.
And none shall ever find it.
And none shall ever seek.

clack clack clack
the sound of footsteps
hushed whispered voices
enter that hidden land
the darkness swallows you
carry us away

will we ever find the light
take my hand and hope
blind faith
is that fear in your heart
or is it determination

never stop
never doubt
or be lost forever

Canada's interpretation of the male-female relationship

It was in Winnipeg and
they have this giant underground complex
beneath the city
stretches for miles
and on the subway there I
met a man who said
don;t get tied up in the knots
and then by knots he meant women
and I said, yeah, I hear you
seriously, he said
they'll tie you to the boat when it sinks
I kept moving to the subway car and behind
somebody said "well that's not the way she did it before."

Through cold and bitter, frost shrouded streets we wearily trudge,
leavings our nests early in hopes of beating the morning rush,
herded like cattle through gate and pen, in an all too familiar reprise
with calls of "mind the gap" and "move up the platform, please",
as, with numb, shuffling steps, we patiently await the train's presence,
only to despair as the tannoy announces "signal failure at Mornington Crescent".

Ghost Stations

Tulisa on the rocks,
Tulisker swirling in the little glass,
walking along the dark tunnels,
tremors, hands outstretched,
balancing on the trackline,
have fun, walking through
ghost stations,
deep underground.

I'm Too Far Gone

I
can't stop
digging so deep
deeper, deeper, and deeper
I wonder if I will
Ever hit the bottom, if only
I think I will never return there
I've gone so far, I will never find
my
way
home

is this over?

never really knew what these were, thought there would be more people.

dont care about the contest, ill just throw in my thoughts.

Underground, never found, cold and loud sounds, another voice, its never proud.
im under in a box, covered in dirt and rocks, til i rot, tell tall tales of how i loved and how i fought.
no one cares what was sold or what was bought, all my actions mattered or was it all for not.
dance the fox trot in a dress of polka dots, a shady tree, sat on a soft spot enjoying what each other brought.
my life at what cost, a dollar of metal to get a man shot, flower pedals and war medals for all fathers lost.

this is amazing, i vote this guy as the winner.
