Samsung targets RIM in new ad.

Kicking them when they're down.

But actually if someone takes the share of the corporate/government markets that RIM has then they're finished.

why waste the money on this?

This is like Mike Tyson being like "I gotta make sure Ronito on GAF doesn't come up to challenge me!"

just loop an animated gif with a blackberry in the background and a rotating "LOL" in big letters over it. Samsung are a bunch of tryhards.

But I have to wonder if there is really cross shopping between blackberrys and android devices.

in the corporate space-where customers are more likely to buy upscale phones and upgrade them more frequently (corporate subsidies + wealthier employees)-there's still a lot of marketshare to win from RIM

i loved this ad lol

"do they START the apocalypse or END it?" and the other dude is like "..uh.."

but of course samsung had to go after the low hanging fruit going after RIM. they sure showed them!

I thought this ad was pretty good. It clarified a bunch of important misconceptions.

Jesus Samsung's adverts are awful.

Like really really really awful.

Oh no lets just quickly skip over the actual innovate features your phone can do and instead belittle your users. Christ.

I don't doubt half the people in this thread, who are not marketing people, who are not advertisers, could do better than every Samsung advert that has come out in the last few years.

Christ RIM isn't even worth going after. They should be targeting the retard adverts for iPhone 5 ...

Apple - "Look at our phone LOOK AT OUR PHONE, It can now do <noise canceling, panorama images, headphones that work, turn by turn directions, remote backup etc> 5 year old phones could do, we're SO INNOVATE"

It's weird that Apple typically got a lot of shit (understandably so I guess) for its depiction "in the know" users being laid-back, easy-going scruff 20-somethings like Justin Long. And years later it seems like Samsung is embracing this same stereotype in their own commercials.

I mean, business jacket? What a Blackberry bozo.

And people with two phones (one being a Blackberry most of the time) don't really have the option to say, "yeah, I'd like a Galaxy SIII or Note II instead of having a personal and work line", most of the time since it's the company that just gives it to them.

It's cool to hate on the big dog in a fight, the same shit happened with Apple and Microsoft with the operating systems. Soon it will be cool to attack Samsung or Google.

I guess the reason the Apple ads didn't bother me as much was because they were smart about making the humor stem from unknowingly self-deprecating comments by the PC. The minute you're attacking someone else and utilizing sarcasm to do so, it makes it trickier.

The most likable person in that whole Samsung ad was probably the older business woman who essentially says "Fuck off, I have my system" IMO.

Cause NINTENDON'T!
The ads only function to agree with those already on Samsung devices.
Its like Kevin Butler.

Yep. And frankly, I'd rather not have work shit on my personal phone anyway, so it works out.

Stop, stop, they're already dead!

BB/RIM is certainly NOT dead. The new BB is coming out this month and apparently it's frightens Samsung so much they need this ad.

Who needs employees watching football during work anyway.

The Apple ads made Apple and by extension their users seem like a bunch of smug douches. It kind of screamed inferiority complex I guess. The Samsung ads (the ones where the Apple people are waiting in lines at least) compare the two products but IMO make the [Samsung] users seem like they are just nonchalantly using a better product and don't really give two shits how cool the people waiting in line think they are.

I thought the commercial was pretty funny. Only person that seemed like a douchey tech geek was the first guy that was watching the game.

I'd still take a BlackBerry with a physical keyboard for my work phone over anything else. And I love my Nexus 4.

Respect my system.

Dang, I kind of want a Note 2. I'm on a GS2 now, but that Note 2 always looks so awesome.

While a Note II would be cool for tablet features, am I the only one that thinks someone would look pretty toolish talking into a phone that gigantic? It's side/taco-talking on the N-Gage levels of silly, in my mind.

Edit: just watched some YT videos of the Note II and GS3. Okay, it's not that much bigger, but it still seems a bit awkward.

i think samsung's advertising is kinda arrogant and distasteful. Apple did it much better with the "I'm a Mac; I'm a PC" ads.

Looks like some people don't realize that only market RIM has left is government and business. Samsung is smart to target that sector.

its already cool.

This is a serious question, does anyone outside the Samsung commercials use the "bump" transfer thing?

i've used S Beam with my cousin and use Android beam with my sister and another cousin several times, though now we use an app called Wifi Direct for large files.

Pretty funny. Rim still has a lot of corporate business that Samsung could steal so it's not a useless ad.

I've done it a few times, it's a nice feature. If everyone had galaxy phones it would be awesome.

Got my Note 2 yesterday (my first smartphone)... Needless to say I'm beyond impressed. Still not sure how much I like AMOLED displays for videos though, youtube videos are looking a bit "off" to me... Everything else (apps, menus, icons, etc) looks PERFECT though, and even the included Samsung video looked great, so it might be just that youtube compression artifacts look worse on the phone.

Haven't yet had a chance to play any games or watch my own media on it.

Fuck the ads. Note 2 Master Race! I was handling my mom's iPhone 4 after a week with my Note 2 and it felt like a fucking toy.

I can't wait for the Note 3, however Sammy can relax with the ads. Even though... I find them funny in a bad way, so I guess they succeed.

They showed that old woman getting arsey when questioned about her two phones; the thing is, most companies that issue phones don't allow them to have private use so unless the new samsungs can take two sim cards you're going to need two phones anyway!
