Going to parties where you know only one person

Anyone else find these awkward. I already said I'd go, so I will, but man... I only know one person and they'll probably be busy.

What am I supposed to do, just randomly talk to people!?
 
Master the art of both not giving a fuck, and believing that people will love you. If you're not a douche, it works more often than it fails.

A little ego and elevated self confidence, faked or real, goes a LONG way, and actually attracts people to your conversation.

It's a good chance to sharpen your social skills. Make some friends, get to know people, they don't bite (usually. watch out for biters.)
 
Love it! get drunk and be social. If the people at the party are such douches they won't talk to you then I'm sorry you've experienced a rare shitty party. Just don't be the person that sits there all shy looking bored because it will be taken the wrong way.

Be happy, posititve and most importantly get drunk :)
 
I hate standing in the middle of the person you know and the other person they're talking too. You feel like a loser.

Be practice and fucking talk to them. why would you just stand there? Unless they're talking about high energy physics you have to have something to contribute.
 
I used to find it a little awkward. An extra layer is that orten I'd be the only black guy there. Now I don't really care especially after a few drinks. Usually end up having an awesome time.

Idk... you don't have to hit it off with everyone you meet. Guy doesn't know any of these people. Most of them are drunk and friendly... it's not that hard. It only gets weird when you overthink it.

Seriously though, I still try my best, I'm just dying on the inside of awkwardness. It's something I've never been able to change, though like I said, on the outside I seem fine and sociable. It's strange to explain it.

Love these type of parties, lets me meet and mingle with new and, most times, interesting people.

Sorry socially awkward people hate them though.

Exactly. I overthink things. I start getting worried and assume they just don't give a shit and are just humoring me. I really need to stop doing that shit. It mostly happens with women, even though I have a girlfriend of my own lol
