Senscape’s four year journey with Asylum is nearly complete, and the Argentinian developer is asking for $100,000 to get it over the finish line.

Asylum was in the last batch of titles given the nod by Steam Greenlight and Senscape said in apress release that the surge in popularity this brought about partially inspired its crowdfunding attempt. In response to fan requests, one of the reward tiers is a chance to be featured in-game.

“The number one request from fans has been that they want to become part of this engrossing setting we have created, and we have listened,” project lead Agustín Cordes said.

Cordes’ past work include the cult-favourite horror scratches. “$100,000 in return for a lifetime of nightmares,” he added in the pitch video.

View the pitch video below and check out the Kickstarter campaign page; a demo is available.

Asylum is expected on Linux, Mac and PC in March. It will release in a DRM-free form, too.

This project will only be funded if at least $100,666 is pledged by Thursday Feb 28, 11:02am EST.

everyone who has played scratches has disappeared.

Im still here bitch, what of it, HUH?!@

Anyway....yeah asylum has been on the radar forever now. Hope they get the 100k, but damn if it sucks shit like this happens.

Actually sounds like this new one is trying to chase some of that Amnesia love. Scratches was pretty different from Amnesia but was still a horror adventure game.

why do i get the feeling not many people have played/heard of scratches :/

Because that is probably true. Folk over at adventure forums etc are aware of this deal though. (the developer actually posts at adventuregamers forums)

I actually just discovered that the Dreamfall kickstarter and Syberia 3 kickstarter will be starting soon. Damn im all nostalgia'd.

The developer also saw this topic. The man is all around. It's his birthday (also mine, but I'm not him).

Seriously though, Asylum seems to be what I'm looking in a horror game now: artistic craziness.

100k to pay for a month of development?

lol no.

Not really. The Kickstarter page says:

Your contribution, even if it’s one dollar, will help us tackle this final lap of development with a proper schedule and resources. Right now this is still a "garage game" with most team members dedicating time to the project as they can from their homes. If we reach the goal, we will lock ourselves inside an office for the remainder of the year until Asylum is complete. Being able to work together every day in the same room makes a huge difference, especially for such a large project. If you can’t contribute by actually pledging money, spreading the word is more than enough: tweeting, liking on Facebook, just talking about it will also help.

Also, the tiers list an estimated delivery of December.

I shared this on some social networks. I'm... kind of too cheap to kickstart. But I can pass it on for sure.

I love me some horror games but even though I have had scratches around forever I haven't played it yet...

The kickstarter isn't for just funding the final month. The game will be in development until the end of the year, most likely.

Its actually kickstarting the ability for the people working on the game to dedicate full time in an office setting to finish it. Right now it is being made but it sounds like they are a mod team of some sort, working from home while they do other jobs. At least that is my impression of it.

So long as I don't have to search all 100 rooms for candles I'm all for this. Beyond that little niggle in Scratches, I'd argue it was one of the best adventure titles released in the last decade.

Does Scratches DC on Steam include the bugfix and graphics patch? I remember I had to download them separately for the disc release (now unavailable).

Yes you are correct.

In my post I accidentally a word.

Holy shit. I didn't know that!

People, get your wallets out, a new season of Kickstarter projects will begin (or well, has been going for a year now hehe).

Starting to crawl, come on i wanna see stretch goals! Fans of horror adventure games would surely like this. Plus creepy asylums are always fun to explore.

Update - now we are at $67,000!

2/3 of the way to the goal, but we will not stop there because we want to streeeeeetch it out.

It's 70% there already, it'll get funded for sure. If they have some cool updates for final days they could exceed it by a healthy margin.

They've had a couple surprise 10k backers, and apparently one of them didn't select a reward. I hope those people don't back out.
