Cave Shooting Collection to be released on March 28 (Japan, X360)

I'm still waiting for my Toaplan Shooting Battle Vol.2 =(

But this has me salivating even with the lack of any real information. lol

I still need a NTSC-J 360... But then again, most of their games are region-free. Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets will also get a re-release in a few days.

I own all but one of these, but if I had the cash I'd definitely be considering buying this collection. Nice way for those who haven't played many/all of them to catch up too.

I wish that this was region free, I would have bought it even though I own 6 games from that list already (and soon to be 7 when the cheaper re-release of Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets comes out, provided it's still region free)

I hate region locking.

Still wondering if this hints at a western release for mushihime-sama, since it's the only one in this collection that is neither region-free nor released in the west.

Was hoping to come into this thread to see Cave shmups go on PS3... :/

Honestly, is theres a reason why they won't release their work on PS3?

Nice collection for anyone that hasn't jumped on them yet but I imagine most Cave fans own these games already and if not in this form then on iOS.

This has been know about Cave doing 360 games and iOS games. And the iOS versions are really good. You have two technically(Android and Windows support is not that great yet, but is getting there)options two get Cave games.

At this point it wouldn't make any sense. We are at the end of the gen, and all of their (few) fans bought a 360 in 2009. The market for shmups is simply too damn small, you might as well ask for a Vita port or a Wii port. It's not worth the effort. And before you ask, yes, back then there were good reasons to choose the 360 instead of the PS3.

The collection is nice, but I already have all the games, so I'll pass.

Even on my US 360 I have most of these games..... still want Mushihimesama 1 and DDP Black Label, though....

Yikes. 300 seems way too much. I would have dropped 100 but damn... I already own some, and I definitely don't want it spread over 7 discs.

Not really sure who this is for at that price

Even with a US 360, you can still get Black Label! You'll need to create a European live account and purchase some European points (I used a point card from an online store), but then you can purchase it without issue (either from the dash or right here). Better yet, DLC works for all accounts on the console it was downloaded on, so you can switch back your normal account and still play it!

This is not a 7 disc set (Siliconera was erroneous). Each game comes on its own disc just like the original releases, and on top of that you get 7 superplay DVDs and another disc full of all DLC + Guwange.

So total, there are 17 Discs in this box set (9 game discs, 7 superplay discs, 1 DLC disc).

Well... some people don't have enough money to buy all the consoles you know: kids, house mortage, bills,... I am pretty sure everyone on GAF wishes they had all the consoles in the world. For most of them, it's just not possible.

Whith that in mind, why blame someone who just wishes a game was on the console he already owns? It seems perfectly normal on a gaming forum.

Ohhhhhh no way. Thanks for the heads up.

New covers, or are they "the best" versions or whatever?

It's just against the rules of the forum to port beg.

Because every thread about Cave games has someone begging for ports (PS3, iOS, whatever). It gets tiring after a while.

Ketsui wasn't published by Cave. I wonder when the contract with 5PB expires... it's a shame that two excellent games like Ketsui and DOJ Black Label are region locked and expensive.

Is region-locked, available only in japan and not a part of this collection... or am I missing something here?

Oh crap, I glanced a list on another forum, saw "KetsuPachi" and read it as Ketsui, my bad.

Was it a 5pb job? I can't remember offhand. That's the only reason I can think of for it not being included.

Hmm, it is (or at least it's published by them) and so is DaiOuJou BLX which is also missing from the collection, so it very well might be the reason we are looking for. Well, that's that then ;(

This collection also comes with 7 superplay DVDs, all DLC, and the OST for every game. Considering the DVDs alone would probably cost more than $300 if you bought them separately, this is a pretty good deal.

Would be so awesome if they made the entire thing region free. I have Deathsmiles and Mushihimesama but not the others.

I've got all of these already aside from the ones I don't want (DSIIX, Akai Katana) so I'm not too interested.

I'm sure a lot of Cave fans will buy this for the DVD's alone though.

Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng!
And this is why region locking needs to die. I own 3 of those (deathsmiles, akai katana, and Dodonpachi Resurrection) and I highly covet the rest. sooooooooooo want this.

For what it's worth, there's been plenty of discussion on this at the Cave thread.

I ended up importing a Japanese 360 prior to Deathsmiles coming out in Japan, knowing it would be far cheaper than collecting the arcade PCBs (which was literally the only way to play their games beyond Ibara at the time), anticipating there would be more ports to follow. I wasn't disappointed, and enough US games work on the Japanese 360 that I pretty much never had a reason to pull out the US 360 again after 1 vs. 100 closed down.

The argument that the collection isn't worth $300 (about $40 a game, and that's just giving away the extras for free) are ludicrous; this is Cave's specialty and they simply can't afford to feed into public misconception that the entire genre is somehow unworthy of being more than XBLA fodder, or it would simply become self-fulfilling prophecy. They've been in this business for decades and aren't considered a leader of the genre for nothing. The iOS versions are cheap because they are broken shades of the games they represent, made only as an attempt to establish a second revenue stream and not really as an endorsement of the platform.

For anyone expecting a nice presentation box set for the price, don't. It's basic multi-disc DVD boxes sadly.
