Road Redemption takes the motorcycle-combat racing gameplay, pioneered by the Road Rash series, and brings it to the next level.

Road Redemption brings state-of-the-industry combat controls, insane crashes, destructible environments, AI, ragdoll physics, and online multiplayer to the classic motorcycle combat/racing formula.

The Road Redemption team has been hard at work since early 2012, though preliminary design work started as far back as 2009.

By focusing exclusively on high spec platforms (Windows PC, Mac, and Linux), we can maximize elements like physics complexity, level size, number of onscreen drivers, control complexity, and graphical fidelity.

We're currently working on integrating Rift support into Road Redemption as a proof of concept, and we will be announcing an Oculus Rift stretch goal soon.

We would love to have the opportunity to port Road Redemption to consoles. Most of the team members are seasoned Xbox 360 developers, and porting to Xbox 360 would be a top priority.

We are looking forward to seeing how Unity performs on Wii U.

We would definitely like port to PS4, when it releases.

We will be announcing console port stretch goals as we get closer to our initial funding goal.

With your support, we will release Road Redemption, on its primary platforms, in July of the coming year.

I will shortly be launching my campaign for my Red Dead Redemption spiritual successor, Red Dead Rash

but seriously this sounds fantastic. 160k isn't too much, hopefully they make it.

Road Rash... through Oculus Rift?

Sounds headache inducing. :/

I'd buy a console version if they come. I do dislike how the camera moves in pretty much every motorbike game, makes me feel sick.

The gameplay looked pretty fake, and their studio website links directly to the Kickstarter page. I wanna know a bit more about these guys before I back, if they update with more info I might budge.

Come on, the video was pretty bad, your typical KS thing:

-Publishers won't let us make a game like us...
-Nobody has make a game like us...
-We have grown playing games like this...
-Somebody in this team has worked on some developers doing something...
-I am an experienced developer, i start making games when the 360 launched... lolwut?

REAL TIME!! No shit, i can count the polygons on the scenario.

Ahh, come on guys, don't get things for granted, work on your presentation, that was pretty lazy.

PS: And don't get me started with the "storyline" of the game.

I'm interested, but the page doesn't really give much information about who Dark Seas Interactive is.
It mentions what games team members have worked on in their bio, but not who they actually are, or who is leading the project. Would be nice to know all that.

Looks pretty fun, I played Road Rash a lot back in the day. I'll wait and see with this one for now, but if they look close to making it I might chip in.

I haven't funded but one game. I may consider this.

I can't believe we haven't had some HD re-release or simple upgrade on PSN/XBL/Steam yet.

PC and potential PS4 have me interested so I will keep an eye out pending this thread gets bumped and reminds me.

I like how it said "ACTUAL FOOTAGE" when the game was playing.

Looks like the whole thing was pretty scripted, and kind of stilted and jumpy in general. The driving physics didn't look very good.

Not too sure about this one...

haha, I thought the same thing. Don't worry dudes, no one is going to mistake this for CG.

The camera is way too low in that footage. Not sure why they didn't get that right immediately.

That has to be the worst kickstarter video I have seen yet. A good quarter of the video was footage from zelda, battletoads, ultima online, final fantasy, etc. I mean it's awesome that they grew up playing games and all but it doesn't mean so much in terms of the development of this game.

Wow, 3 month development sounds great.

well it says on the page that The Road Redemption team has been hard at work since early 2012, though preliminary design work started as far back as 2009.

Some T-800 action with the shotgun on the motorcycle.

The graphics could look better, but Road Rash was never about the graphics. Gameplay matters the most.

Huh?

Awesome to see this series getting a "revival" though. If I had money... I would donate.

That video instilled me with zero confidence about the game. Still gonna keep an eye on this because I would love a good road rash game, but I'm just not sure about this team (and that footage wasn't much)

Hey,

I am a developer at DarkSeas Games. This is not my account though, this is a friends account that he is letting me use to talk to you guys.

I am happy to answer any of your questions about Road Redemption.

So first off we are not launching in July of this year. We are launching in July of next year.

Second off the footage is realtime pre-alpha, so none of these assets are final and of course it doesn't look amazing.

Right now our website redirects to the kickstarter because we are planning to use that as the primary method of correspondence at first via updates.

This is the first kickstarter that got me wanting to back, I might if they can for sure tell me there will be a WiiU version.

It´s a $15 game with a budget of 200k aprox what you expect Crysis 4?

Man, this game would be trippy with the Oculus Rift. :lol

(yes I know they mention it on the KS page)

I don't remember guns in Road Rash.

Makes sense with the story though and looks good overall (and I understand that this isn't actually Road Rash).

So nobody does those cheesey videos for Kickstarter anymore? Not that I have a problem with that.
