Man delivers pizza after getting carjacked (ATL)

ATLANTA — A pizza delivery man carjacked at gunpoint still delivered the pizzas he was carrying before running for help.

The driver told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri off camera he saw the customer and wanted to finish the job before calling police.

"I didn't know it happened right here. Wow," neighbor Jordan Elgin told Viteri.

Police said the driver pulled up to the home on McDaniel Street in southwest Atlanta where Elgin and others live.

"As he pulled up and got out of his vehicle, he was approached by several males armed with handguns," said officer John Chafee with Atlanta police.

According to the report, the driver told investigators two young men pointed revolvers at him and ordered him to "give it up," referring to his car.

The driver told Viteri he is still struggling to put the experience behind him.

He said one of the men hit him in the head with the gun before taking the car, which still had his child's car seat inside.

Chafee said police have seen cases where people target deliver drivers by calling them to abandoned homes but that's not what happened in this case.

Police worked to identify the two men who the driver described as young, possibly teens.

I'm very sorry criminals jack their pizzas, that's fucked up. That ain't my fault. It would seem to me that pizza delivery guys are one of the many groups criminals fuck in the ass on a regular basis. Look, if you ask me to sign something that says criminals shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And as for this non-college bullshit I got two words for that: learn to fuckin' program, 'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big fuckin' surprise.

Never understood why muggers/car jackers usually assault the victim even when they are being compliant. Surely you are making it worse for yourself if you get caught.

I would have done the same thing. I'd be freaking out about being assaulted and having my car stolen, but if I was already at the customer's residence w/ pizza in tow and they suddenly came out to check out that squealing tire noise they just heard... you better believe I'd walk right to them and deliver their pizza right there and then before calling for help.

Y'know. One less headache to worry about.

Oh, hey look guys. A conceited asshole. That's okay, don't tip. There will be plenty that will who make a good bit more money than you do anyway.

I hope you're never laid off and have to deliver pizzas one day. Life can be a bitch, you know.
