Goal is £10,000.

Life of Pixel – a platform adventure.

Pixel was a little green pixel who was tired of being part of the crowd. Pixel wanted to see more…

Pixel found a World of Retro joy! It was time to find out about his background…

A time when the humble Pixel ruled!

This game was released on PlayStation Mobile a few months ago. It's really a lot of fun, and can be a bit challenging. The Kickstarter is to bring it to additional platforms as well as adding more content:

We have already developed and self-published a PlayStation® Mobile release of Life of Pixel. Reviews have been really positive (see Reviews section below) and user feedback has been brilliant (check out our Twitter feed).

While PlayStation® Mobile was a great platform to work on, unfortunately sales are very small as there just aren't many people buying games on there. We have also had a lot of requests for Pixel on other formats.

The money we have earned on Pixel so far for PlayStation® Mobile hasn't covered our original development costs. Without extra funding we simply can't afford to develop it any further as we are out of money.

We see Pixel as a long term project we would like to evolve and expand until we have covered as many retro game systems as we possibly can!

We would love to bring Pixel to a wider audience, but we need your help to do this!

In addition to porting Pixel to PC, Mac, iOS and Android we have several cool additions planned too. These include:
  • Extra content - new machines and levels
  • Audio - more fantastic chip music tracks and sound effects
  • Interactive museum of retro gaming machines - find out more about the history of each of the machines featured in Pixel
  • Leaderboards - featuring quickest time to complete each level with a ghost pixel replay feature
  • Additional DLC - such as Pixel skin packs and new enemies
  • Achievements - lots of rewards to earn and collect

We're building the game with Unity, so we need to get the required Unity licences and export modules for iOS and Android.

Why Do We Need Your Money?

We have a vision with Pixel - we want to make something special; a game that really celebrates 8-bit machines and the various differences between them and to support a wide range of game systems to play it on.
  • Wages - to pay our wonderful team for their hard work (programming, music and art)
  • Unity licences as mentioned above
  • Development systems/test kits - we need Android test units, OUYA, Wii-U and PS3 development kits
  • QA testing, plus general business & legal costs

That CPC464 keyboard is quite snazzy and modern-looking. I almost want some colored keycaps for my cherry keyboard to mimic that color scheme.

Wait, are the systems like the NES and GB part of the game itself. O_o Can't happen if it's on anything but a Nintendo platform, you might be able to get away with platforms by companies no longer around, but I mean...

Might be reading it wrong.

It already did happen. Game is out on Vita.

VitaGAF only failed me once, when they hype it to death. Game is terrible.

Did you play it before they released the patch? I've only played the patched version but I heard the initial release had a bunch of cheap deaths due to jumps into the unknown.

I was wondering myself about that, featuring old but copyrighted systems in a commercial game seems asking for trouble

Also if the game is made in unity why the hell does it take twenty thousand quid extra to put it on the wii u

I love the game (only played the patched version). I really hope they meet their goal and can continue to expand the game

The devs told PSNStores they only sold 950 copies worldwide in February. Such a shame :(

Life of Pixel is a great game (especially after they patched it), and it deserves to appear on other platforms. I hope that they intend to bring the new enhancements to the PS Mobile version as well.
