Xbox E3 contest hints at Turn 10 and EA featured

This was posted in the Xbox Reveal thread but probably worth a heads up just in case.

Microsoft are holding some Twitter contest to win a trip to E3 that you are entered for when you tweet a specific account or use a certain hashtag. The terms of this competition have been posted on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/notes/xbox...-sweepstakes-official-rules/10151390513401017

There's the usual crap on there like @PlayXBLA and #XboxE3 but what's interesting is it includes @Turn10 and @EA.

Two caveats:

- This was obviously meant to be a table at one point so the formatting is a bit fucked.
- @Turn10 is not the official Turn10 account.

Edit2:

They have now removed Turn 10 but kept EA.

It is worth noting the date of the competition -- it ends the day before the Xbox event on May 21st.

WHAT ARE THE START AND END DATES?

This Sweepstakes starts at 9:00 a.m. P.T. on May 8th 2013, and ends at 5:00 p.m. P.T.on May 20th, 2013 (“Entry Period”).

Edit:

They've fixed the formatting but still has @EA and the (wrong) Turn10 account.

Honestly, Ubisoft is ahead of EA now a days.

Microsoft managing to snag early Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty content would be a megaton.

Yep, it really would. Even more so if they managed a next gen limited exclusive or something.

They've actually fixed the formatting now but it still says EA.

Entry Chart

Prize Pool / Twitter Channel / Number of prizes awarded / Required Twitter Hashtag

2 @Turn10 25 #XboxE3
3 @PlayXBLA 25 #XboxE3
4 @EA 25 #XboxE3

Man, I'd love to see some mind-blowing exclusives or crazy incentives. Just want things shaken up a bit in this "omg 8gb gddr5 lol always on" hamster wheel.

We already know Titan is heavily rumoured and is published by EA. There were already rumours if Firza for Durango launch. It makes sense to show off COD Ghosts at 21st reveal, and Titan at E3. This way they don't have 2 similar games shown off in one event especially since Resowan developers made COD.

This is what I think will happen

21st
COD Ghosts - Timed exclusive DLC
Ryse
Rare Game
Fable MMO

E3
Titan
Destiny - Exclusive Halo themed DLC
Alan Wake 2
Forza Next

Sound like decent predictions. Include Lucid in there somewhere, because they've been teasing about this month for quite a while now. So maybe PGR5 instead of Forza.

I am guessing the Battlefield 4 DLC will be exclusive as well.

Timed exclusive DLC megaton

I always wonder how a DLC exclusive can ever be considered a megaton.
I mean it's not like it's free, you're paying for additional weapons, maps ect. To me that's a chumps game.

I guess because I never buy DLC (as it seems pointless and exploitative) I just can't get my head around this being a big deal. Obviously there are lots of people who like this practice though.

I was sarcastic. I completely agree with you.

Oh man it bout to get ugly if they corner BF,CoD and Respawns new IP.

Do they really have, and would they really throw money at exclusive games though? Surely EA wouldn't do that. Maybe timed releases of the actual game. But that must be crazy expensive.

Well, with COD, it's certainly the case that PS3 fans express anger. If it's enough for them to convert to the Xbox, I dont know, but if MS continues the mentality with more of these IPs...

But, then again, Bungie is favouring Sony. The only real megaton would be actual exclusivity, or even timed exclusivity of a game's release.

I've failed to see them make any real difference to the sales ratios between platforms, so yeah, seems like a huge waste of money to me. People aren't stupid enough to associate a series with a platform for such minor things.

I would like if next-gen racing games wouldn't be limited like the example of Porsche this gen. EA had the exclusivity and then we got them in DLC form on FORZA 4 for 20€.

We had a ton of people buy xbox360's and cod for it due to the month early DLC while I was still at gamestop. It works trust me.

Oh man, I hope EA announces an exclusive partnership with Xbox on May 21st. Then I could be sure I won't miss anything by not owning one.

In the US? Sure, but if you think about other countries with different cultures and I don't see them paying for LIVE to get timed exclusives DLC when paying for Live only gives you Multiplayer access (since they don't even get 10% of what others get in other countries).

I've seen a ton of people buy ps3s and cod for it due to the free online on the other hand.

If sony starts charging for online play with the ps4, I believe exclusive DLC would actually make a big difference. Right now, not as much. It at the very least evens out.

They are?

It saddens you that people will buy the version of a game that gets them access to what they demand faster? Smells like common sense to me.

No. It saddens me that we live in a world where companies can sell incomplete games with the promise of 'exclusive' DLC a month later. I remember the days when I'd buy a game and it was, you know, content complete.

I think it is far easier to do this at the beginning of a generation because with the small install base publishers just want to get their money back on these big budget games. I can see MS easily paying enough to cover what a PS4 version would generate with the install bases we are talking about right off the bat. I am guessing if they have versions of the game for 360 and PS3 this would not change the platforms for last gen.

In terms of sports games, I don't think MS would try to get FIFA.

I think that Madden as a timed exclusive would make more sense considering that the game only does well in NA (and Xbox is currently the popular gaming brand in NA).

We'll see though -- something's up.

So Sony is in bed with Activision with Destiny, MS is in bed with Activision for COD, so what does this mean for EA? Respawn's game is going to be promoted the same way COD is? And does this mean Battlefield will be the same? Seems like the next Xbox will be the FPS box.

Also, what is "Turn10"?

How are games 'incomplete'? In the case of CoD teams are doing extra content that is being worked on after the main game ships.

I'm quite happy to pay for that kind of DLC.
