I got this...

Talk about unfamiliar territory.

On a totally different note. A while ago I checked into the poetry thread to remind myself why I don't write poetry when I saw that they have a banner. I think we should have a banner, too but the thing is that even if I'd put a 100% effort into creating one the result would still look like shit, because I have like no artistic talent whatsoever. So I'll just leave this thought here so maybe someone more talented than me might pick up...

I think that if someone gets a totally unusable article it might be OK to hit that random button again... Kind of hard to do research if there is only a name and like one sentence...

I feel downright fortuitous that mine is a relatively straightforward narative about a guy who kills people with a hammer.

Oh, the link I posted there doesn't work for some reason. There's a whole article about him. Here's how it starts:

Aaron Lawrence (born March 29, 1971) is an American gay pornographic actor, director, sex advice columnist, author and entrepreneur.[1][2][3] After graduating from college Lawrence embarked on an unplanned male hustling career which he parlayed into both a writing and acting career.

OK. That is awesome! How can you show us that and then say you not gonna participate?

'Cause just like Aaron, I'm a tease. :p

OK, I'll try to finish it by the deadline. Is screenplay format acceptable, or does it absolutely have to be a short story?

I don't think that there is a rule against screenplay in the FAQ.

Edit: I mean, we had poems, so why not scripts.

Here's what I stumbled upon. Not much information or details, but I'm given the "anti-terrorism" direction. Not sure whether to use that as my plot or just my setting. Anyway, should be fun. Good luck to everyone!

Aw man, I had a story and then some subsequent Google digging broke the timeline. Maybe I should eschew realism and write alternate lives for my Wikipedia subjects?
storylines are hard to come by, after all

Just started reading up on my random article and realized that it's about a freaking nazi-ship... Thanks wikipedia!

God bless all my old friends/And god bless me too, why pretend?

That was my first random click btw.

I'm sure most of you keep clicking something until you find the one you like. Don't lie. I know everything.

Excitement! I've been thinking about participating for some time now, it'll be my first time.

I saw the requirements for this challenge, then went to Wikipedia and clicked on Random Article. I got this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeless

Now I just need to come up with a story about "Research" and "Homelessness" somehow, I hope I can find the time to work on this.

I originally came up with an idea about my random Wikipedia page, but then some research ruined the plausibility, so I started brainstorming "random" and came out with another idea, but it's completely unrelated to the Wikipedia page. Now I'm feeling guilty because all discussion has been about Wikipedia and I'm not doing the optional objective, heh.

You should try both avenues, if you haven't already Aaron. The traditional agent/publisher/print & then self publishing if that doesn't or hasn't worked.

I keep saying I'll return to these challenges now I've moved house but I haven't had time for writing. Would love to submit something this time around though, the primary and secondary objectives are fantastic.

Never thought it would be so hard to step out of my confort zone. This one just won't work even though I know what I want to write :(

How pathetic would it be to not participate in my own challenge? Because I'm seriously considering to give up on this damn story. I mean I'm at this for over 4 hours now and have written like 200 words.
