The iTunes page allows you to stream every track from the new album as previews. I love Pretty Done, Voices, Phantom Limb and Hung on a Hook. I preordered the album + t-shirt bundle from the band's site. It sounds better than Black Gives Way to Blue.

Hung on a hook is my personal favorite. I do agree that its a bit more aggressive than BGWTB.

Listened to some of the new tracks but I just can't get into it. Same with the last album. For me it's a mix of not wanting them to even continue without Layne, and a mix of feeling like even if Layne was still around a modern AiC still wouldn't be very good. Just like almost every band from the 90s. Nirvana is gone, "The Smashing Pumpkins" are just god awful, Stone Temple Pilots are a joke now with or without Weiland, the new Soundgarden does nothing for me...

The only one still holding on for me is Pearl Jam, but mostly because they are still amazing live. They haven't had a great album in years, but at least they haven't really released anything that's embarassing like STP or the Pumpkins.

This new AiC isn't terrible, though. I'm glad some fans can be into it. I'm just not one of them.

I miss the 90's.

I like it. It tries nothing we haven't hear before, but like with the latest Soundgarden album I'm perfectly fine with that. I still think William DuVall was a great replacement, he sounds perfect for the band.

These first two songs are a lot better than anything from the new Soundgarden album.

the music is awesome, my only complaint is there isn't enough variety vocally, Layne coukld really bust out and screm which broke things up... just feels like i'm hearing the same shit in every song

Layne is gone. Gotta remember that these are men in their mid fourties.

I really enjoy the two singles. How does the rest of the album compare?

Imo the rest of the album is way better than the singles. Phantom Limb is a great rocker, hung on on a hook is an awesome mid tempo jam with a chorus that only AIC could deliver

Thanks for the heads up on this album, GAF.Hopefully it's on Spotify, or will be soon.
On a completely different note, I also want to listen to She & Him's new album.

Always did like AiC. Miss layne though. That guys voice was hauntingly beautiful.
More like almost 50 for Jerry. That new singer is really 45? Holy shit, I thought they went with a young dude.

Certainly sounds like it, doesn't it? I had thought the same until watching the second vid in the OP.

Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, QOTSA, Boards of Canada new albums.

Guess Portlandia Dream of the 90s is alive.

Saw them live last night. Didn't understand a word he said while singing the entire concert. To each his own I guess.

I was at the show and had no issue with understanding him. My only complaint was how aggressive they played Down in a Hole. Was happy they played most of the old stuff as I'm fine with the new music, but find it very static compared to the older music. Not sure if it was the mixing when Will picked up the guitar or what, but I thought all the older songs sounded much better than the new ones as well. Either way had a lot of fun and enjoyed the show. Was my first outdoor concert as well and think the Pinewood Bowl is pretty nice.

Love Alice in Chains, and this stuff sounds ok ...... and I am glad Jerry and the boys are still making music but I kind of dont consider this Alice in Chains.

Layne is dead (R.I.P) and while the other guy is a decent singer he ain't no Layne.

It's like G n R, yeah it calls itself G n R but it is not.

This is an imitation with some real parts.

Now I can whole heartedly agree with your statement .......... I miss this type of music, most music today is shit.

Lithium on XM has been my saving grace for my car rides. Nirvana, old STP, old Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden. I'm gonna miss it when my trial is up.

Honestly, I didn't want to like it... I enjoyed the old AiC so much and felt it would be ruined. But this is some good shit...

Your my new best friend.

Loading this up on Google Play now. Stone was fantastic, can't wait to hear the rest.

It's up on Spotify now.

Jerry's singing is especially mesmerizing on Scalpel. William's vocals are nice on Hung on a Hook. Both of those songs are wonderful.
