The Stomping Ground - Kickstarter, Dinosaur Monster Hunter

Tempting. I want to see what comes of the PC Monster Hunter from Tencent but after seeing MH4, I just want a MH where the textures don't look PS2-ish or at least a game with some elements of it.

I pledged towards this. It looks fairly rudimentary but I love dinosaur games and wanted to show my support.

I think this is a very interesting concept. I wonder if it would be better if they went with an RPG combat system. It would be very difficult to create gameplay where you actually fight the dinosaurs with a small budget.

Isn't Monster Hunter already Dinosaur Monster Hunter? They're basically super dinosaurs.

Some of the gameplay concepts sound interesting though, it seems to be focused more on survival than hack and slashing.

That looked pretty awesome already. I love the survival aspect but I really wonder what they will do with the hunter aspect. Making the traps and stuff looks great but I am not sure about the actual hunting part yet. Need to see more!

Yes. The first big monster you take down will probably be an oversized Raptor in fact.

I really don't think this is comparable to MH. It looks interesting all the same though, as a 'wilderness survival' kind of game.

MHTri was basically Dinosaur Hunter, it was severely lacking in monster variety but if all you wanted to fight was wyverns, raptors, leviathans and T-rexes you were good to go. Ultimate helped a lot but it's still missing the crabs, apes, and really outlandish elder dragons. MH4's gonna have spiders, wasps, frogs, monkeys and street sharks so no problem there.

Saw this in the Republique newsletter and pledged, looks pretty neat. And isn't it Stomping Land, OP?
