It looks & sounds exactly like what I wanted from Killzone! Not just a linear shooter anymore. They've opened it up with the ability to do objectives in the order that you want. The "owl" robot companion looked amazing and added a Ratchet & Clank kind of vibe to it. It allowed you to zipline at any time you wanted and you could order it to attack, emit a stun explosion, pull up a shield, hack objects (& turn off communications/alarms), and scan/scout for enemies.

Was I the only 1 that watched that with my jaw dropped?

It definitely seems more Crysis-like. Could be interesting.

The Owl bot is going to be very handy, it can do so much but I hope it doesn't make the singleplayer campaign easy. I saw a new weapon from helghast side? The environment is beautiful and the new trailer they showed is amazing, you can really see the difference from the original trailer.

Just watched the archive. I liked what I saw.

Combat seemed less linear and corridor like than what I remembered from KZ2. Using the Owl to hack from a distance and scout and distract/flank enemies looked very interesting.

I'm not going to say the gameplay couldn't be done on the PS3 but combining the stuff I saw with graphics that are clearly more impressive in detail and scale... that's cool.

Looks great. Nice to hear about the controls too, I really liked KZ3 but the stick sensitivity in 2 made it hard for me to play.

I like how you can see enemies through walls and approach them in a more open way now. Deffo gonna pick this up at launch.

Fyi link in the OP doesn't work.
Punksters link works. Game looks fantastic.
I do hope there are levels that remind more of killzone 2 in atmosphete.

But i really like what i see. Especially the more freedom.

Edit: lol, he never heard of the garfield/ cat resemblence of the cloaked character :p

As an avid KZ2/3 fan, this shit looks absolutely amazing. Loving the more freeform approach to combat, especially the zipline.

I WANT THIS.

There's ONE thing I have always wanted and will always want from KZ: the super brutal Helghast-spazzes-from-all-the-bullets-hitting-him as featured in the first gameplay trailer. They never got close. Probably a design choice, but not one I want :(

When he walks up the tower the rails have aliasing up the ass, but otherwise it's pretty cool for launch game. Can't wait to see what first party squeezes out of games that were completely done of finished dev kits and what happens once they get down with compute on the GPU.

PS: Looks like this gen will be defined by fps AI drone buddies ;)

Oh god, yes. the zipline is awesome. If a dev wants to impress me in a game with bigass environments, give me a zipline or hang-glider to make my own path through it

I was not hyped for this at the PS meeting, but it's looking better and better. I hope the mp is as fun as KZ2. And the increased scope is what the game was missing.

As a massive KZ2/3 fan, I don't like what I'm seeing. The unique "weightiness" of the animations seems to have been nerfed, and now the movement/weapon handling seems to be on the level of Call of Duty.

The AI in the video was also just horrible, they just stood there and waited to be killed. Whereas in KZ2/3 they would take cover immediately, peek out and shoot and dive into cover again, coordinate their attacks and generally be a bitch to kill. The excellent combat against AI was the best thing about KZ2.

Another quirk is the new "clean" graphics that is almost on the Half Life 2 cleanliness. When I hear Killzone, I remember the grittiness, brutality of war and destruction, not Portal 2 style happiness around.

Yes, the graphics are awesome, but the gameplay overall seems to have gotten shallow.

New zip line ability will make map design/traversal more varied. Having the ability to see enemies through objects seems a little too Easy Mode for my tastes. This is a wildly different Killzone

Nice to see they have opened up the levels and you get to play around in them rather than travel down corridors. Multiplayer is what I'm waiting for though.

What is the actual structure of this game?

Is it typical linear Killzone fair? Seems like a waste to have such a big well designed city if there is not some open element to it

So GG has finally succeeded in ridding the series of its signature noir look. Good job idiots. You now have a shooter that will be indistinguishable from all the other generic shooters out there.

The game never had a noir look, and don't worry you'll still get the previous look. It's the contrast between the 2 sides of the wall at play here.

As the conference was unfolding last night, I was making a tally of games I would definitely buy a PS4 to play. This was on top of the list and is the game I preordered with my system.

You mean the high contrast look of Killzone 2 and 3? I think Killzone's unique style primarily lent to it's art direction.

I actually like the appearance of KZSF. It looks very fresh, and yes, it still looks unique.

My biggest qualm (I can't tell if it's the shitty YT footage): Object pop-ins. Why? Why? I don't remember this kind of pop in even in KZ2 or 3 and the unveiling gameplay trailer didn't have it either to my recollection. I saw a ton of foliage and shadow pop ins. The game looks utterly stunning but that's one huge immersion breaker.

I'd take a lower fidelity and less objects on screen to stave off this issue.

So like Crysis then? That sounds pretty awesome. Why can't I play this game with m/kb :(

This is part of the reason why I preordered the Knack bundle. The AI looked bad, like deal-breaker bad, in the video preview from E3.
