This release sneaked up on me. Didn't see a thread for it. It was crowd-funded successfully here.

Apparently, it's like 15 hours which is pretty long but I'll have to find out myself.

A little out my impulsive buy range. Although I'm still very interested in this due to my joint love of solving logic problems and outer space eldritch horrors. I really have to see some early impressions before I pick it up though.

On one hand, the trailer looks awesome, on the other hand, I feel like I have been majorly spoiled now. This would be like telling the whole GlaDOS story in a Portal trailer, wouldn't it?

Since I love Cthulhu, I'll buy it anyway, just not for that price point I think.

I wanted to wait for some impressions, but I think I'm going to bite and just make my own. Everything I've seen looks really good, and I could go for a first-person puzzler.

Here is my video review for anyone on the fence. Pretty damn good imo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzTAi21SoKo

Good review. I'm in agreement with all of it, except I'd add one complaint: the puzzle difficulty is all over the place. Some are incredibly simple and I'll breeze right through them without pausing. The rail section that you included a lengthy clip of, for example. I just listened for noises and made guesses where I needed to go. I made it through that section without stopping or backtracking at all. Then I'll come across one where I have no idea what to do, like the puzzle right after you see the first monster.

Downsampling this from 3600x2025 and it's fucking gorgeous. I prefer the cleaner environments to the industrial stuff, but it's still a beautiful game. Performs very well, too. The loading breaks are a bit more obtrusive than in Portal, but they're never long.

Urgh.. Puzzles are great on their own, but I really doubt it mixes well with a H.P Lovecraftish story. In a more adventureish type of game, it sounds like this story could have been incredible. (I generally don't care about stories in games, but Lovecraftian types of stories are very interesting.) But puzzle and cosmic horror just sounds like a bad mix.

Game is out and no further response to it on NeoGAF?

Housemate bought it last night and i'm waiting on his report as i love watching Portal & Portal 2 but don't really enjoy playing them myself. I'll post when i've had a chance to interrogate him.

I really, really want it to be awesome but a MORE difficult and potentially nausea inducing Portal? Hmmmm, i'm not sure it's for me. Cthulhu or not :(

I'm going to watch Dagon again tonight i reckon.

Dagon is still the best Lovecraft movie? I haven't been paying close attention to movies recently.

His stories don't translate very well to movies I suppose. But I wouldn't be opposed to David Lynch trying to make a movie out of any of his stories.

Don't know about it being the best but it's the one i have closest to hand which means it's the one i'll be watching later :)

If someone has a list of good Lovecraft films then let me know! :)

Most of the movies are pretty bad. I've only seen a few, but the general consensus seems to be that most of them are pretty bad. You should just reread the stories I guess. :P

I heard the In the Mouth of Madness movie by John Carpenter with Sam Neill was good.

Absolutely, it's fantastic.

Re-animator, The Resurrection are adaptations of Herbert West and Charles Dexter Ward respectively. Great movies. Also Dagon; had some cheesy CGI at parts but I thought it NAILED the atmosphere of Shadow Over Innsmouth.

I actually had no idea this touched on the Cthulhu mythos; I bought it yesterday. Purchase vindicated.
