Real Kratos - Saddest Kickstarter ever?

There's this guy who calls himself Real Kratos on Facebook. He's basically a guy who, well, cosplays as Kratos. I remember seeing some of his pics last year and thinking he pulled the look pretty well. Apparently he's good enough to get 40,000 fans.

So I came across his page again today and saw his last post from July 25th linking to a Kickstarter. Well, looks like he may have overestimated the devotion of his Facebook fanbase.

Ouch.

Anyway, it made me think about everything seems to have a Kickstarter now. So, what are your thoughts on this? Do people rely too much on crowdfunding now? Should anything be fair game in Kickstarter?

Why go take a capital loan that you have to pay back, meaning you have to have a business plan likely to be profitable, when you could get people to give you the same money, but risk free?

So that people don't see you fail epically like in this case?

Everything this guy does now is going to be "from the guy who got $156 when trying to raise A QUARTER MILLION BUCKS."

He needed the $8 pledge to be a $2 pledge, minus the credit listing

I do feel bad for him, he looks commited and serious, but temptation and all...

back to the game then:

Internet embarrassment >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> interest on a big loan

I would think Sony wouldn't be okay with the idea of someone making a movie about Kratos. Especially given the fact that they themselves are supposedly working on a God of War movie.

The thing with kickstarter is that usually people won't back shit if you don't have anything in your portfolio. So it balances out, IMO.

Holy crap the promo video on that kickstarter page... I mean, yeah, the guy does a pretty cool cosplay... But when he actually tries to act suddenly I no longer see Kratos, only Cringe.

that failed melissa joan hart KS seemed really sad to me.

a near-forgotten 90's-early 2000s relic grasping for a chance at a comeback and failing.

yea, i don't think Sony would be cool with this especially if he was to make a huge profit off it.

Real Kratos wasn't smart enough to set the goal at $5 so he could keep all the money.

I only fund projects with manandtaurs.

That's a pretty weak pitch video.

He's clearly reading from a script off screen.(which is kind of funny with the enthusiastic language used in the subs)

Not saying that's why this failed, but he might have gotten more than a 2 week paycheck at a minimum wage job if he actually came across as passionate about this project in the pitch.

He looks like a mean Howie Mandel.

I hope him the best. If the Kardashians can make it big, anyone should be able to, because literally anyone alive is by default better than the Kardashians.
