Why there?
Great for everyone to get to via the trains or walking when your already inside the city.

Its a bar in a great location on one of the main squares of Köln.
Next week weather forecast is excellent so we can all sit outside (like most years) they have giant outside tables and great staff.
Fine beers and open to late.

I have been there many times before it has always been great.

I do not really think I need to say this but its just a reminder.
ITS NOT AN OPEN BAR OR INVITE TO FREE ANYTHING.
Just pay for what you have or pay for pay with your group but its not like someone is going to get stuck with a bill at the end.
If we want we could discuss a split the bill evenly at the end of the night but I would think that is a little unfair for people who are later or do not drink/not drink so much.

If it's ok to come for a first timer, then i would love to join you. Work stuff untill 20-00 both 22nd and 23rd, but 20-30 looks ideal. Don't mind the nickname :)
 
I will be at gamecom and GDC from 18 to 25th aug..covering it with a press pass..so i might check it out
 
Ohhh, I should be able to make that. I can't say for certain as things might be pretty busy but it could be fun!

Back when I went in 2010 me and two friends spent our nights on a local campground just outside the city.
Play games at Gamescom during the day, drink beers and BBQ in the evening. Great sanitary facilities as well.

It's cheap as fuck if you don't mind campinglife. It's also a lot of fun if you're going with friends.
 
Wish I could join but my trip is mostly for GDC so leaving on the 22nd again. Only going to check out Gamescom on the 21st before the mayhem really starts.

I live about 40 mins from Koln, but I REALLY would prefer to stay in a hotel in the local area. Problem is I still haven't been able to find a hotel in the area. :( Any Gaffer whose attending got any recomendations? I think either way I'm gonna try to at least make it to the GAF meet-up on Thursday.

its easier to arrange a gaf-up outside of the venue as things there can be hectic.
wednesday and thursday should be pretty safe days for most people too, most afterparties are on the weekend :D

speaking of parties, can anyone spot an invite to the Madcatz party on tuesday? MarkMan? :D

You can still buy a ticket online at Gamescom site, there were even Wednesday "wild card" tickets available yesterday.

mmm I am attending with three colleagues from my website, I might come to this thing, I'd like to, but we're staying out of cologne and I still don't know if we're going back to the hotel before the wargaming party at 22
