COLOGNE, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq:ATVI), today announced further details surrounding Call of Duty®: Ghosts’ participation in Sony’s PS3 to PS4 upgrade program. The upgrade program is completely optional and allows consumers who purchase Call of Duty: Ghosts on PlayStation®3 to upgrade to the PlayStation®4 version of the game for a limited time at a suggested retail price of only $10, €10, or £10 depending on territory. More details will be shared in the weeks to come.

"Today we’re announcing that anyone who buys Call of Duty: Ghosts for the PS3 will be able to upgrade to Call of Duty: Ghosts for the PS4 for a limited time at a suggested retail price of just $10, €10, or £10," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. "Retail programs, announced by Amazon and GameStop allow our players to upgrade from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts for $10 as well. We have also previously announced that for a limited time our players will bring all of their Season Pass Content and all of their in-game progress with them within a console family, for no additional charge. I rather just wait a week or so and get the next gen version.
 
I wouldn't do this deal for CoD, considering CoD Ghost is out a week before the PS4 launch, and it'll probably be out for the Xbox One launch. :P


I'd totally do this for Battlefield 4 however, so fantastic deal for Battlefield 4.
 
Yeah it really makes no sense for the games that come out so close to each other. You must be super impatient or have a lot of disposable income.

Only ones this might be good for are madden and FIFA. We'll not FIFA in the EU since you get that already. :p
 
Futureshop and Best Buy Canada are doing something similar but even better with the new Madden. Buy it on PS3/360 now and trade it for $60 credit when the PS4/X1 versions come out.
 
This is....an inredible deal. Especially for us Europeans who will be waiting for next gen versions just that little bit longer.

You're kidding right? For only $10 more, you get two copies of the same game. It's like saying who buys a blu-ray/dvd version for extra.

You can buy a current gen version and then for only a little bit more get the next gen version as well as carry over dlc and season pass content.

You can resell your current gen version after you've made the switch too. You'd be surprised how many people would go for this.
 
This offer actually has my attention, it could be possible to get cod at launch on ps3 fairly cheaply via supermarkets etc then pay the upgrade price and trade in the ps3 version an d break even or at a small cost for a ps4 version. Weren't there other games announced doing this?
 
More like "at a suggested retail price of only $10, $13, or $15 depending on territory". Anyway, at least there is some compensation for the lack of BC.
 
Sounds like a good deal seeing how I usually have to buy 2 or more at launch to play with the kids. Since I'm getting only one XBone initially I can trade one copy in and have a slight advantage over the new XBone players.
 
So its currently £55 for Ghosts on amazon, if you find a cheap ps3 version for like £30-£35 its going to cost less than the next gen version for £10 on top of that. May be the way to go.
 
i think its a great idea :) amazon are selling the ps3 ghosts for £40 and ps4 ghosts for £49. so u can buy the ps3 version and upgrade for £10 to get the ps4 version, then sell the ps3 one for £30 which means u get the ps4 game for only £20 better than half the original price of amazon???? thats a deal and a half. u could do this with all the big games :) which means if u could afford 3 games at full price, u now can get 6 games doing this. only an idiot would say it was a crap idea!!!
 
Pretty sure this does not mean "if you own ps360 version, pay $10, get ps4/one version for $10" I think it means, if you own the ps360 version and the ps4/one version and you want to carry your stats from ps360 to ps4/one you have to pay $10
 
I just don't understand why people can't be patient and just wait for the next gen version. It's not as if you gotta wait for months.
 
This sounds more like "pay $10 and give in your current gen copy", instead "of pay $10 and get to keep both copies of the game", unless they are being too generous.

My question about the digital versions on PSN, if I upgrade from PS3 > PS4, is my access to the PS3 version revoked?
 
Wait... Don't you have to trade in your 360/PS3 version to get that price for the next gen version?

I only ask because there are a lot of people that seem to believe you can just resell your 360/ps3 version afterwards so now i am confused

You don't keep the PS3 version, you trade it in + £10 for the PS4 version.
