I know it has been crazy with all the kickstarters recently but I think this one looks pretty neat and needs more exposure. As of this posting it is barely in the double digits as far as number of backers go.

Note: I have no affiliation with this game or its creator.

What games has this guy and his team made in the past? It's not like everyone can make a good Megaman X/Metroid game. It's even more difficult when you consider they want to make it in a year.

To be honest concept art and animation is not very easy on the eyes. Looks like a modern CDI zelda game and without a pedigree it is hard to even back. But it is never a bad thing with Mega Man inspired games.

Good luck to him. The character design and animation has a long way to go.

Totally agree, not at all a fan of the art direction.

Edit: I should be more specific - not at all a fan of art direction on the human, and the lighting of the elements is very jarring.

Animation looks awful.

And there's something cloying and creepy about the way he's plastered pictures of his kid all over the KickStarter to get sympathy. Maybe he's partnered up with Susan Wilson.

And that's before we get into the question of whether or not this person or his team will be able to design a decent MMX/Metroid style level or not. There's a lot of places to go wrong here, it seems.

This is why women aren't protagonists. Horrible.
jk

But seriously, change the main character to be more...cartoonish? And it looks good.

I understand indies overusing the "metroid-like" tagline but it carries insane expectations, I feel backlash is almost inevitable.

I really feel like most gaming Kickstarters would be much better if they actually had a vertical slice demo ready before they asked for money.

Swapping mechanic is pretty much Portrait of Ruin, which I found fun. The jump and wall clinging animations need tons and tons of cleanup. Everything looks like it came out of a Terry Gilliam cartoon which isn't a bad thing but the poses are all wrong.

Fucking word.

I'm willing to give Inafune the benefit of the doubt because has a long history of helming the creation of games, many of which I have bought. I don't know who these people are and some concept art and prospective animations aren't going to make me want to open my wallet.

I'm having trouble committing to the Shantae kickstarter. If that one is giving me trouble, this one doesn't have a chance.

I can't help but chuckle whenever I see these game "company" names people come up with... "Sibling Rivalry Games?" Mmkay.

And yeah, I agree with the sentiment that it looks like something that would have came out for CD-i.

I think the art is actually really good, it's just the animation that's rough. Specifically with the human since I think the robot doesn't look nearly as jarring in motion. You could definitely argue it's hard to read though.

I don't understand what's so bad about the art style. The only thing I don't like are the animations for the girl, they look kind of stiff.

Yeah, the only things that's really rubbing me the wrong way is Tay's, the woman, walking and running animations. Seems a bit stiff and looks a little off. Also, I thought it looked weird that Tay just stood there at the beginning of the level as L1N was being controlled.

Everything thing else looks pretty good to me. Hope this gets enough funds.

Would look better if they can get the animation more fluid. That, and maybe add some animated weight to that giant robot thing that sends the elevator crashing down. Art-wise, it looks good. Would be interested in it if the animation wasn't so choppy.
