‘FIFA 14’ remains at No1, holding off ‘GTA V’ for a second week as the gap between the two closes to around 31K units.

Sales of ‘FIFA 14’ are down by 68%, a slightly better drop than its predecessor ‘FIFA 13’ whose sales fell by 72% after launch. ‘GTA V’ (-34%) has to settle for No2, but can content itself with the knowledge that after just 3 weeks on sale it has already eclipsed GTA IV’s lifetime total to become the 12th biggest selling game of all time. It’s even more impressive in terms of revenue, as ‘GTA V’ now occupies the No5 spot behind 4 Call of Dutys, almost equalling the total of ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’.

Despite 4 new releases in the Top 10 there is still a large sales gap between the Top 2 and the rest of the chasing pack. Codemasters/Namco Bandai have this week’s highest new entry with the multi-format ‘F1 2013’ debuting one place ahead of Nintendo’s ‘The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker’ which re-appears at No4 thanks to an enhanced HD version for Wii U. The other 2 newcomers are ‘NBA 2K14’ at No7 and ‘Just Dance 2014’ at No9. Half the Top 10 this week is made up of sequels to games that were in the Top 10 the same week last year. Two non-sequels, ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (+4%) and ‘Disney Infinity’ (+22%) are the only Top 10 titles to increase in sales this week with the kid-friendly duo charting at No5 and No6 respectively. ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist’ (-23%) slips one place to No8, while ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2014’ (-45%) falls 6 places to No10.

Very good for The Wind Waker HD, though I'm afraid it'll just drop like a rock next week. Just Dance 2014 just seems as popular as ever, and the Holiday season hasn't even started yet. And very impressive for GTAV... already sold better than GTAIV, that's very nice.

Time to make F-Zero GX HD with online, NINTY

This also includes bundle sales right? It seems nothing really changed outside of that as not one old Wii U game reentered the bottom of the top 40.

Well done, Wind Waker.

I wonder if Zelda will do anything for console sales.

The barometer used to be whether or not Nintendo Land popped back up on charts but since the new prominent bundle is the Wind Waker one it's hard to tell. Does the UK track bundled games that are digital downloads?

I'd be surprised if it's any higher than 15k, going by the combined charts.

Unless your implying practically everything in chart is doing horribly (or there's a massive drop off from fifa 14) precisely where are you pulling these numbers from?

WWHD at least not flopping as in japan.. maybe nintendo will consider more HD remakes? Howabout sunshine?
It used the GCN analogue triggers didn't it? That'd make it a non-starter.

There's only one 3DS title in the top 40 too. That's more worrying for Ninty I reckon.

I did it mentioned a difference not an amount for either. Unless there's some calculations using drop off but that wouldn't come anywhere near the numbers mention here.

There is a massive drop-off ("Despite 4 new releases in the Top 10 there is still a large sales gap between the Top 2 and the rest of the chasing pack") and in the UK 90% of stuff has been doing horrible for a couple of years. There is no evidence one way or the other, but it's generally not wise to bet on large numbers in these threads.

Higher than expected position for WWHD so that's good although I certainly wouldn't be celebrating it's "success" based off chart position alone. Until we get a good estimate of it's numbers it's all for naught really.

Just Dance on WiiU failed miserably though in its first week (no.8 on WiiU chart). It'll be interesting to see as we move into Xmas if the sales of this improve any. That'll be a good indication if the WiiU can start picking up the casual player at all, or they are more than content with the Wii, especially with the like of Party and Fit coming too. I think it'll be the latter though.

But where are these numbers all I see are assumptions not hard proof. Unless someone shows me these calculations they're doing.

Ah yes, Pokemon. Everything will be OK because Pokemon. Who needs a healthy platform when you have one game that sells a lot?

A 'large sales gap' indicates something of a drop-off.

That could be a 100k or anything, considering we're talking abut the second and 3 week sales of the biggest games in the year and maybe generation it could still be a heck of a lot so where is this 30k coming from.

It sounds like tales from my ass without actual calculations for where these numbers are coming from.

I'd say it's relatively healthy though, smartphones and tablets considered. FE, LM2, AC, DKCR3D all did great! let's see if the pokefans pick up other games with their brand new 2DS next week. ;)

What other big 3DS game released in the last few months would you expect to see there? Animal Crossing is actually one of the older games in the chart, most of them are pretty recent.

Guardian splits are up.

Most Wanted isn't in the chart so my day is ruined.

Going from what little numbers we've had in the past, I feel 30k would be a good number for #3 with an acknowledged 'large sales gap'. Just my feeling though.

Any idea why the 360 software sales are stronger than the PS3 sales in PAL countries? I was under the impression that the PS3 is market leader in PAL territories, shouldn´t software sales reflect that?

Nothing! I said nothing!

Not in UK, just about everywhere else I think.

Yeah i'm not saying it isn't 30k but with all those new releases in there with WW still beating you'd have to assume they all bombed extremely badly andd yet people are talking about 30k and below as a given when it's clearly not without more information

I dunno man. They have more platforms on the shelves than they have games in the Top 40. That doesn't look good to me.

Yeah i'm not saying it isn't 30k but with all those new releases in there with WW still beating you'd have to assume they all bombed extremely badly andd yet people are talking about 30k and below as a given when it's clearly not without more information
Fair enough, it certainly isn't a given. Someone might be able to extrapolate a vague upper ceiling from the FIFA numbers, but that still wouldn't give us anything like the full picture.

I wish we got numbers.

Any idea why the 360 software sales are stronger than the PS3 sales in PAL countries? I was under the impression that the PS3 is market leader in PAL territories, shouldn´t software sales reflect that?

They aren't. You're mixing up UK as the whole of Europe. Only really in the UK does the 360 sell more than the PS3.

As said in the old thread, fantastic to see WWHD do as well as it has. Will see a steep drop off next week, but it's still good to see the game a modest splash.

Not in UK, just about everywhere else I think.
Yep, I was talking about the overall lead. E.g. in the biggest and second biggest PAL market (Germany and France) PS3 is the leader (perhaps UK is the bigger market for consoles, but GDP is higher in Germany/France).

Probably the game sales per console are higher for the 360 --> even with less consoles you can sell more software.

EDIT: @Katana: thx, that was the mistake, didn´t see the UK flag above the first list ;)

I don't know what it says about Wii U owners that they'll pay 40 quid for a Gamecube port... and yet something new that seems like it might be genuinely worthwhile in Wonderful 101 gets ignored completely.

Wii U games without some mascot nostalgia pushing them may as well not turn up at all at this point, and Nintendo fans just sent Nintendo the message those games don't even need to be new.

No. Just UK and US last I heard. Everywhere else in Europe and (obvs) Japan is heavily skewed in favour of PS3 software.

No, you wouldn't, because 30k is an excellent opening for the UK lately. There's a reason people say "The UK market is dead!" and it's not because it's some kind of hilarious meme. Even If TWWHD had sold 15K, that would still be top 3 highest Wii U openings this year. For reference Pikmin 3 debuted at number 2 and we know that sold between 6 and 16k.

Wonderful 101 with nintendo characters would of done so much better.

UK is 360 country, rest of EU is PS3 land

Substitute FIFA for Madden, and UK and US are pretty similar markets, more so than UK = rest of Europe
