Best Buy PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Demo Displays starting to go up

I posted the information in another thread, but figured this was enough to start a new thread now that I have pictures showing what Best Buy has set up as of today.

Below is an image of the main aisle as you walk into the Best Buy Media area where Best Buy plans to promote in-store for the Xbox One. The first image is the main (1st) aisle in the games section, this is the one that faces guests as they enter the store, at least in my local store. Speaking with the Supervisor of the department, in this section which is 12' long, they will be receiving an interactive set up for people to play the unit and this will be set up in the center of the 12'. On the left/right side (4' each) they plan to have additional items.

In this other shot, this is a 8' section they dedicated in the software aisle, they will have a separate software, accessories, consoles in this section as well.

According the Media Supervisor, they should be receiving interactive displays for the Xbox One shortly, but he had not time table as to what that meant.

My local BB have had these up for several weeks now. Also have a PS4 display that loops a video of PS4 and PS3 games.

They did that for the Kinect launch in 2010 at about the same time of the year - just laid empty until there were things to fill the shelf space area with.

I don't know why, but I love this stuff. I'm not planning on getting the console, and I rarely shop at BB.

(I don't like the green they've chosen; thought it was darker?)

Our best buy has a similar area for the PS4 and One close together, no boxes or units to play yet though. I have both pre-ordered but I'm still pretty excited to try them, I remember playing Motorstorm at best buy prior to the launch.

Is there a list anywhere that shows which stores will have next gen kiosks? I'd really like to mess around with the PS4/XB1 controllers.

On the back side of the first photo is where the PS4 is going. I did not get a photo of this since it was incomplete, all they had was blue posters with the PS4 picture and that was it. They had a cart with stuff in the way or I would of taken that picture as well. He said they plan to receive an interactive as well, but that there display space was the 12' section for all PS4 stuff including the interactive, vs. the 20' they were told to set up for the Xbox One. He said more than likely, they would have more footage in the same aisle where PS3 stuff is, but they had no planograms for that as of yet.

Those areas are getting set up in our store, well. The PS4 area is a bit more elaborate, since it has empty boxes for the accessories, as well as pegs with PS4 game pre-orders.

Can't wait to have the demos come in!

What the fuck? They changed the cool black box for all green? WHY?

The all Green one is the standard edition, which will be the main one after launch. The black one is the Day One edition of the console. But I agree with you, they should of kept the black one even for the standard and perhaps put something on the Day One to make it different.

Certain Walmarts will have their displays up in 3 weeks so maybe Bestbuy will either be a week ahead or at the same time.

I imagine that both MS and Sony are going to coordinate their displays to hit every retailer at the same time.

That's what I'm assuming. I've seen what Walmarts are getting and the Xbox One will have the Kinect at all displays. The PS4 didn't have the camera in the display that I saw a month ago but the guys I talked to said they were still talking to Sony about it.

Were you not around during the pre-launch buildup for the 360? The Tard Pack moniker even managed to get picked up by a major news magazine for an article on the system. It was quite popular.

I remember that. But funny thing is, it still sold out just as fast as the ones with hard drives. Granted, most customers that had a choice went with the hard drive one, but I remember being at a store that had just received stock of both and some preferred the one without the hard drive.

Games that look and feel like real life only on xbox one? PS4 to get only games with kiddy graphics confirmed. Seriously though, why would they put such a stupid line on their display? They really can't afford to have advertising as bad as their PR at the moment.

A functional Kinect, though? I can't imagine that they're going to put any games in there that use it, but that might get a bit tricky, since two of the three MS-published games are M-rated, which is a no-no at retail.

It's a long term display. We update them with a disk to add new content on a pretty regular basis so building in the Kinect, which will work, is thinking long term so they're not redesigning the display in a year or two.

Rivals was delayed. You'd think they'd change that to something else, maybe a digital game like Crimson Dragon, D4; Ep1 or Killer Instinct.

That signing was probably printed 3-5 months ago.

Agreed. Think Killer Instinct would be the best replacement since that seems to have more hype than the other games you mentioned.

Is Best Buy going to be offering Geek Squad Console Set Up services this time around?

It's gonna be tough figuring out how to connect my consoles to the TV and power. And this time around they're pushing online hard too so I'll have to worry about internet too.

The Best Buy I went to had that set-up on one side, and the exact same size set up on the opposite side in blue for the PS4.

My local BB didn't have anything PS4 related setup. The Xbox One section was smaller than the Infinity/Skylanders section though :|

I don't know why, this kind of thing makes me so damn excited about the next generation :)

We're like... almost a month away from the start. Amazing.
