Special Moves Showcase

haven't seen any obtrusive iap stuff besides an ad banner during halftime, there might be a grind or something later, don't know.

I kickstarter backed this, only for it to be released as free womp womp.

Luckily, they're giving us some in-game currency to make up for it.

so... how do you get more moves? Does leveling up not unlock that, and you can only get characters with more moves from the shop and booster packs?

yep. fun stuff. curious if the game balance holds up later in the season. it seems like i can easily punch my way through all defenses.

The way the game is balanced (for single player) is the teams get progressively harder. Rookie and Kickstarter I cups are pretty easy (except for the last matches). If you want some real challenge, I'd suggest the Pro or Kickstarter II divisions.

For MP matches, it really depends on your opponent; a strong team will naturally overpower a smaller team.

As it is right now, we can dynamically update the game balance without pushing out title updates via server updates. Feedback from players, such as yourself, will help shape any inconsistencies in game balance you might experience.

That being said, what's your team value right now? Which cup are you plowing through?

Thanks for making the awesome thread. :)

just started, 3 games in. i guess the teeny issue i have is, i get the rockpaperscissor mechanic. It makes sense for mp, but you can't really out think AI lol. Kinda wish there was a brief 'tell' before any animation. Having a real hard time figuring out when people are gonna tackle vs punch. Could be a design decision.

Also, how do you get new moves? I bought one character from the store and i don't know where he went.

Game could use a bit of a tutorial on the management side of things.

New moves are on the Player Cards. After you buy a player it gives the option to sub them in automatically no? If not, go to MY TEAM and check your BENCH.

First review!! - 4/5

Gameplay: 4/5
Design: 4/5
Duration: 3.5/5
Pros: Over the top football action | Highly entertaining | Smooth touch controls
Cons: A bit repetitive | Power-ups are too powerful | Online multiplayer

Are you ready for some football, in a form that has never been seen before? ThatÂ’s whatÂ’s in store in Football Heroes, which is an arcade football game based on classics, but made with all new touch controls. You get to fully run, pass, and tackle, but what really makes the game stand-out is the ability to punch. A run up the middle is a completely different experience when youÂ’re trying to box your way forward, and opponents are trying to knock you out, literally. Anything goes in this version of football allowing you to knock out receivers on the route, create separation when the ball is in the air, and beat down a quarterback without any worry of penalties.

NFL Blitz is the most well known arcade football game, and Football Heroes is like a 2D version that is more along the lines of Tecmo Bowl, and NBA Jam. ItÂ’s simply over the top action that doesnÂ’t have to worry about safety concerns, and instead youÂ’re trying to reach the end zone, and stop the opponent in any way possible. To amp up the arcade style, there are also power-ups letting you use spinning fists, drop bombs, throw flame passes, and more to completely turn the tables on the opponent. A nicely timed power-up can let you go the entire length of the field, or stop an opponent in their tracks. The power-ups replenish every few plays, so they canÂ’t always be used, but you also have to contend with opponents power-ups as well.

Each game is composed of just two halves of 2 minutes each making for extremely fast paced on the go football gaming. There are six championship cups to play through giving your targeted single player against progressively more difficult opposition. Football Heroes also features RPG elements, and card collecting allowing you to level up, and upgrade your team with enhanced players. The entire game is free to play with ads at halftime, and in-app purchases to upgrade you team quicker than the coins you earn in game. The game also features local multiplayer, but online multiplayer isnÂ’t included, and just potentially coming soon.

There are no quality choices for football on iOS with the pitiful Madden & NFL Pro, and the simple mini-games of Backbreaker and Flick Football. Football Heroes is the best yet, though that isnÂ’t saying much, by providing the normal flow of a football game, but amped up by a factor of ten. ItÂ’s a whole new way to play, and itÂ’s highly entertaining through the concentrated bursts of a quick moving field, and short halves. The cup mode keeps you coming back, and itÂ’s simply enjoyable to punch your way through the line, knock out receivers, and complete long passes after taking down corners. The power-ups are a neat addition, but theyÂ’re a little imbalanced to be too powerful allowing them to dictate the outcome. On the harder difficulties, the computer opponents use them non-stop to make it more frustrating than enjoyable, because thereÂ’s no counteraction when one is used. Still though, it increases the challenge, and arcade style, which the game prides itself on.

Football Heroes (Free, iPhone / Free, iPad) is a great game for football fans, or arcade fans allowing for some hectic action on iOS that makes for a worthwhile download.

an issue i'm running into (mind my lack of football lingo knowledge), is that the lack of a switch to closest guy button truly hurts like a motherfucker at times when the other team does some super, wiping your defense and trots off.

The AI defense are pretty poor at punching back from what i can tell. Also sucks that when you switch to a guy, they just stop running and you gotta start running again.

Yeah, my biggest gripe with the gameplay.

Where do you get the big bucks? How does one afford these players that cost like 6k?

There are few ways to accelerate accruing in-game currency:

- Level up your guys! You get a coin reward bonus every time you level up one of your players.
- Post your game results to Twitter or Facebook.
- Grind against easy teams and run out the clock on offense by keeping in-bounds and not finishing off the play. (i.e. punch the crap out of everyone and don't score)

We have plans going forward to have additional single player modes which will make it faster and easier to gain in-game currency. But for now, purchase Hero Coin packs to accelerate your progress.

If you have any suggestions, we're all ears. :)

Yeah, my biggest gripe with the gameplay.

We've actually been hearing a lot of players asking for a "Switch to Closest Player" button the past couple of days. I think it makes sense: you want to keep the momentum you have if you're chasing someone down the field and tackle the SOB.

What about the touch boxes for the defenders? Are you having any trouble switching to the defender you want to control?

We're shaping the game based on player feedback, so if there are enough players clamoring for something and we can do it, we will!

Touch boxes on defenders don't seem to work, only way I can switch players is if i stop moving with whoever I am and switch to someone else, and even then it doesn't work all the time. Pretty much any pass I don't break up or intercept ends up being a touch down because of this.

Why do so many of the teams have a kick returner with the same name?

The art and animations are top notch, especially on the celebrations and special moves. I need to get some better defensive players or at least ones with better moves, the perfect hands move doesn't seem that useful.

How come I can't call time outs? Also the over time rules seem kind of, weird as does the 2 halves, but none of that has really kept me from playing it. And no 2 point conversions :(

Can't wait for online multiplayer, the single player teams all play too similar. Need to play against some real opponents!

i feel like the balance could use some tweaks lol. computer just spaming specials to sack me is a bit annoying.

Also tackles and spin move seem super unresponsive.
