‘FIFA 14’ (-23%) comfortably holds on to No1 in the All Formats Chart, making it a total of 8 weeks at the top.

It’s the largest number of weeks at No1 since ‘Zumba Fitness’ made it to 10 weeks back in W33 2011. Another quiet week means there is also no change at No’s 2, 3 and 4 with ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ (-39%), ‘Battlefield 4’ (-26%) and ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ (-31%) all non-movers.

‘Lego Marvel Super Heroes’ (-12%) climbs one place to No5, ahead of ‘Killzone: Shadow Fall’ (-6%) which jumps two places to No6. The rest of the Top 10 shuffles amongst itself with ‘Need for Speed: Rivals’ (-28%) stuck at No7, ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (-7%) up one place to No8, ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-56%) down four places to No9 and the extremely budget friendly ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ (-10%) not budging from No10.

‘Mario Party: Island Tour’ on 3DS is the first Top 40 new entry of the year, debuting at No18.

Clearly all Mario needed was a board game to defeat the mighty Knack.

Amazed Killzone jumped back to #2. Bundles restocking again? Would have thought Knack would have a similar bump if so.

PS4 is settling into these charts quite nicely. It'll be interesting to see how dominant it is when stock is plentiful and more titles fill out the shelves.

Knack (runner up GotY '13 / Platformer of the Year '13) rises again in his quest for 20 million sales. Can anything stop him?!

Super Mario 3D World appears in the all formats chart again, no 37

Huh. Only 16 places behind..... Oh, you get the idea ;)

Mario or not, I can't believe Mario Party got in there, when you get an awesome game like Bravely Default not even managing to stay in the 3DS chart alone. Sort your shit, 3DS owners.

And GT6 continues to be the biggest mistep software wise for Sony in the past generation.

Yep. Pretty sad considering how much of a step up it is compared to GT5 in terms of menu design and user experience, but people wanted to move on to next-gen. Forza 5 seems to be outselling it and I can see Driveclub doing the same.

Hindsight is 20/20, as always.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Don't know how the UK situation is but in Germany Bravely Default has been nearly impossible to find since late December. Don't know why there has been no new shipments on Amazon since then.

I've never seen a physical copy of Bravely Default. i.e. the only place that got physical copies were GAME and HMV and they sold out on launch (GAME probably won't restock as they have eShop codes of it), Amazon have been out of copies for weeks too (what I'm saying is it takes NOE to print some copies for it to be bought for it to be in the charts). Mario on the other hand is everywhere.

I'm quite surprised actually, especially from the last thread:
I don't know if anyone finds this interesting or not, but to give an indication of charts next week, maybe.

We are the biggest store in our region, and we just got our stock for Mario Party in.

We got seven copies. I am not even joking.
What is strange is the small store I was in had more dummy copies than that.

Then again post holiday blues and so the sales are probably so low that you need to sell about 1000 to be where it is in the charts...

They'll have to delay Knack 2 lest it cannibalises the evergreen sales of Knack.

One is suitable for little 'uns, the other isn't. It's a question of demographics.

Stock has been (and is still) plentiful here in the UK.

What?

BD has been in stock at Amazon for a while. Every Argos within 20 miles of me has copies too, even the smaller branches. It's easy to find copies in stock.

Damn, PS4 is doing great in UK it seems.

So is the XBone too though the PS4 seems to have cemented itself quite nicely. Neither have seen big drop offs in software from the chart with the majority of their respective Top 10 software sticking around the Top 40 since release.

The pent up demand has certainly meant that people are hungry for games on the new systems, and we are seeing some/most multiplats outselling their last gen counterparts now.

Mario Party is suitable for young and old people. It's a perfect "family" title. That's why it sold over 8m copies on DS. Do you seriously think BD would light up the charts on any other format? lol, let's be real here. This isn't anything to do with the platform but the genre.

Huh? Xbox One software has seen major drop offs.

Mario Party is fucking great. I hammered the DS version and will be picking up the 3DS version in time. It is fair to say that it's a true 'all audiences' title.

Ni No Kuni managed to debut at number 1, so I'm not sure that we're totally averse to JRPGs. That said, I don't remember P4G charting at all.

So the great success of PS4 is still doing nothing for Vita.
I dunno, Tearaway rose to #1 in the Vita chart and that's the bundle-du-jour. Uncharted has re-appeared in the Vita top 10 for the last two weeks too. I wouldn't assume too much from the lack of physical titles in the charts. Obviously it ain't doing great business, but I wouldn't totally rule out a bump.

I never expected you to like it :0 I hate it lol.
Never really enjoyed 'em on GCN (always felt like winning was random), but the DS version was a cracker. I ended up nearly 100%'ing that bad boy.

Ni No Kuni, like Pokemon (or even the new Fire Emblem) is a very different flavour of JRPG to something as staunchly traditional and old school like Bravely Default. Still, the brand name worked against it because Final Fantasy III had no trouble lingering on the charts when it released. Probably should have been localised as Bravely Default: Final Fantasy.

I'll be skipping Mario Party 3DS though - at least at full price (which means forever). Lack of online play is inexcusable.

Isnt that just down to the Vita being cheap now.

Knack outselling Mario 3d world tells us all we need to know. People are spending their hard earned money to play Knack on ps4 then another Mario rehash. The people have spoken. Again.

Isnt it enough now? We all know mario is not a rehash and a way better game than knack, but on a terribly unappealing console.

"Raaawwr" was heard as KZ climbed like a savage through the sales chart

Also Mario Party was the hero that they needed to defeat the ever powerful Knack... but not the one they deserved

So ps4 software is also outselling it's 360 counterparts for the most part too. Are we to conclude the Xbox fanbase is upgrading to ps4 as well?

Ps4 software appearing in charts across Europe means that sales gap is growing.

So the great success of PS4 is still doing nothing for Vita.

People buying a PS4 now aren't going to buy a Vita straight away. That's a lot of money in one go. If PS4 does end up helping Vita in any way it'll take time. In a year or two maybe the existing PS4 userbase will and end up getting a Vita for remote play. It isn't going to happen overnight. Or at all probably, but nevertheless it's too early to say.

Besides if anything's going to give Vita a sales boost this year it's minecraft. A true portable minecraft could be a big deal.

And GT6 continues to be the biggest mistep software wise for Sony in the past generation.

However, in a way it may also have helped the Sony brand; at a time when MS had long since given up on supporting 360, it showed potential future PS4 buyers that Sony was still committed to supporting their legacy platform even after the release of their next hardware. I am sure that the sum of these late releases helped convince a number of previous Xbox customers to switch to PS4. Hard to put a price tag on this.
