Sniper Elite 3 Previews, Debut Gameplay & Screens

Oh man this looks really radical. A lot of sweet games are coming out what with this new generation, it feels like someone's got a crush on us.
 
Looks good, but I was hoping for a more modern (or even Vietnam War era) timeframe. That other Sniper game series just hasn't made me happy.
 
This game will also support Mantle on PC, so low-end configuration will have easier job rendering this CryEngine game.
 
I like the second game, and this seems like it's going to be a lot better, based on those previews.

Looking forward to this now.
 
Really loved the second one.

Glad to see the series is continuing, as I don't think another game has captured how satisfying it is to nail a shot. Especially on the higher levels.

Anyone know how well the second one sold?
 
I haven't played the other games, but they weren't third person like this, were they? Interesting. Looks pretty good. Do these games have multiplayer?

Kill cams paired with more realistic than average bullet physics ( surprise - a bullet fired from a gun with a muzzle velocity of 800m/s at a target 300m away isn't going to end up where you're pointing!) made the second one really fun. Throw in random traps and it's just madly entertaining.

The game is just really satisfying. You can probably pick up v2 fairly cheap.

The multiplayer is more of a co-op mode. Think Horde.

These games look great, but I agree I would love a modern setting with today's sniper technology. Afghanistan, Iraq, even a modern city.

The sneaking around and melee/handgun kills don't appeal to me that much, I literally would pay 30 bucks for just a game that puts you in different scenarios of "make this shot count". Maybe like that Sniper mini game from the last Hitman game, that was great.

The two previous games were indeed third-person.

Great to see the North African campaign being represented in a game again. I had a good time with the last two games so I'll definitely be checking this out.

That sounds pretty interesting. I may end up getting this depending on critical and GAF reception.

Ahh, okay, yeah, I think I might be thinking of Ghost Warrior, although I have heard of these games.

Unless Rebellion have changed policies in the last few years, it'll be using their in-house engine, Asura, not based on any commercial solution.

(And as I write that, I stumble on a post claiming it's a derivative of ID Tech 4. Which I'm pretty damn sure it wasn't, if things hadn't changed!)

Rebellion say it’s all in aid of reminding the player of the horror and reality of the sort of bodily wreckage that a sniper’s bullet causes. Especially to a pair of balls. Fair enough. That's probably what I'd say too if I'd made an asbolutely horrifying testicle-blasting simulator that my mam might see.

I like the upgrades to the killcam, but they didn't do a very good job of showing off the stealth improvements which were the biggest issue I had with V2. The DLC for V2 showed real potential with the open level design though, so it will be really nice to have the whole sequel designed that way.

If they can deliver on the more open-ended maps, this should be great.
 
V2 was something else, the first time the screen went all weird & the sound slowed down as 'kill cam' started i was o_O WTF is this & then the bullet hit its target.

Excuse the pun but i hope the dev's really focus on the game & the pub gives them the time to do what they want & not screw this game up.
 
I am definitely waiting for this one to be out for awhile before I decide to jump or not. I bought the second one at launch and was incredibly disappointed with how boring it got on top of the forced action sections. Never again.
 
V2 was the perfect example of a game that was filled with problems but I had a blast with. So many AAA games are polished to perfection and I just can't enjoy myself.

I will day one this....
