EDIT #1: To avoid further confusion and derailment: The thread title was changed by mods. I originally said it's one of the nicest-looking games ever, in my opinion. No references to classic art.

Wow, now that's not a strong claim, is it?
A disclaimer: I know my avatar has a Luigi hat, and clearly I have a lot of Nintendo love, but I'm a multi-plat gamer with a high-end PC who spent most of last gen on PS3. I've seen my share of pretty games, on all systems.
First, check out the latest trailer in HD. Bear in mind, YouTube is capped at 30 fps; the final game is set to be 60 fps.
What boggles my mind is how incredible Mario Kart 8 looks in motion. Stills don't do it justice at all, so don't bother posting screens. You have to see it in motion.
The colors, the colors, the COLORS! And they all pop with the lighting, shadows, texture detail, shaders, effects, etc. If you traveled back in time to 2011, before we knew the specs of the WiiU, and if you showed me MK8 and told me it was from Nintendo's new console, I would've thought WiiU was equivalent to the PS4. The combination of tech and art direction, with a spectrum of colors most AAA titles seem to forget exist, is simply breathtaking in motion.
And the key phrase is "in motion." Aliasing issues crop up in stills, but when you see it in motion, with Wario's mustache fluttering in the wind, and self-shadowing for each limb and digit on their hands, and the abundance of colors... It's just amazing.
Anyone else surprised by how beautiful this game is looking? I've seen the Witcher 3 GIFs and the other exhibits for graphical fidelity, but few games have impressed me as much as MK8. And honestly, I never would've thought I'd be saying that about a Mario Kart title. These games have always run well, but they've never been known to push the graphical envelope for their system, until now.
I know many people will disagree, perhaps reflexively, but I hope you give the trailer a chance.
