Sony London Studio is already confirmed as making unannounced PS4 titles in Soho, but a new job posting offers scant new insight into the project.

It follows confirmation that Sony will live-stream the PS4′s Japanese launch event this week.

The Senior Artist job advert calls on a, “highly motivated Senior Artist to join a small, dynamic game development team working on an exciting next generation PS4 title. Get times and details through the link.

“We are looking for a senior artist with next-generation experience, who will not only produce environment and vehicle assets to a superb quality but will also work as a ‘go to’ artist in the art department. You will help to solve the exciting challenges facing the development team.”

The role requirements add that the successful party will assist in, “The creation of environments and vehicle assets to a superb level of quality,” and, “collaborate with the Lead Artist to help deliver the creative vision of the game.”

They will also work, “with the graphics programmers and Lead Artist, help deliver our next-generation lighting solutions.”

Any guesses as to what this is? The mention of vehicles is interesting, certainly.

A vehicle designer? So there so a chance these vehicles would be created from scratch... Based in the future on some sort of anti gravity technology?

Please Wip3out!!!

Is Sony London Studio the team that made Wipeout ? The ex-Liverpool ? Or not ?
If it is i hope they are hiring for a new Wipeout

Sony Bend is also hiring vechiles experts

But also animal and weapon designers

Of course Lodon is more likely a realistic racer while Bend is just Crash Team Racing :P

Their job ads did rather inexplicably start name checking The Getaway among Sony London's 'portfolio' of IPs in the last 6 or 7 months... seems odd to include a PS2-era IP it if it's dead. And it's the only IP among those listed that supposedly is not active or recently active.

Our portfolio includes titles such as The Getaway, SingStar, EyeToy, EyePet and Wonderbook

It doesn't say an unannounced game in the advert so it could just be Driveclub...the help out other studios as well right?

That would be a bit boring though.

I know a new Wip3out or Getaway would be nice, but i'd like to see some new IP's. This gen needs it. (from Sony and MS at least).

The Getaway: 8 Days

A sequel to the getaway series involving many of the mechanics seen in the 8 days demo vids. Open world setting in London including all the key landmarks. Its a cop story involving 2 partners working for Scotland yard; Daniel O'Shea a gritty Irish Rozzer with a knack for violence and Joseph Dean (a former NYPD detective who moved to London for his woman) adding comical value.

Plays closer to Sleeping Dogs, and looks closer to GTA5.

/daydreams further

Pity those who think this is Wipeout.

Think about it. Why would Yoshida close down Studio Liverpool who were in the process of making a next gen Wipeout and then give the Wipeout IP to a studio whose most recent effort was the massive flop Wonderbook?

They are probably doing cars for DriveClub.

The Getaway was something special in its day. Flawed yes, but to recreate so many streets of London with all those real retailers and companies allowing themselves to be licensed was a marvel that you just don't see much of nowadays. And the BT vans before they were removed! It was probably the biggest attempt at properly recreating a real-world city down to individual shops, at least as close as the technology would allow at the time. Must have been an astonishing amount of work to make, that game.

i really liked the Getaway. I'd be very excited for a new one.

I wonder how far they got with the PS3 getaway that they canned.

OPM UK is teasing a big game for there March cover.

"WATCH THIS SPACE - Next month's cover is one of the most exciting in OPM history, with a series of massive significance finally being confirmed for PS4. Why is this a down? Because we can't say more until then. Sorry..."

It's not the Sony game.

Could be entirely unrelated but PSJobs twitter has a new hashtag every day through the week. Usually something to do with that particular day of the week. Today's is;

#GetawayBlackMonday

dun dun duuuuuun

Getaway 3 or Getaway reboot please

never played black monday but i consider the original getaway probably the best free roam 3rd person game on the ps2

loved the soundtrack, the gunplay and the story

I hope for Getaway.

Any open world seem unexplainable popular to the gaming world, no matter which IP, for example see at Guise of The Wolf or The Rust.

New thread-worthy? Have we anything else?

No. London is the multi-team studio behind Singstar, EyePet etc, and formerly PS2 titles like The Getaway.

Would make more sense to expand Evolution up in Liverpool if they wanted to do a new Wipeout.

A new getaway that allows me to use all my actual London street knowledge (just like a fackin' cabbie, me) to do shortcuts during chases. I was bitterly disappointed by the original despite it's very, very good recreation of London.

So yeah, I want a full-on, alleyways and side roads included central London map to play around in...

I guess I'm one of the only guys who didn't enjoy the original Getaway? I thought it was competent, but pretty weak next to GTA, and the driving itself was far inferior to the Driver games. I only played the demo of Black Monday and the on-foot stuff felt better, but from reviews and so on it didn't seem like too much of a step up from the first game.

That being said, I'd gladly see London Studio have another shot at an open-world game. How about The Getaway 3 set in Moscow or Prague or something? I'm not bothered enough to have it set in London for a third time. Hopefully they'll move away from side-projects like Home and family friendly games like Wonderbook and EyePet this gen, as none of that really took off last generation, and back into more 'core' games.

I can't think of any existing racing games from London Studio.

R.I.P The Getaway 3

I'd take HD remakes of the first two, I would buy a PS4 straight away.

Even though i never played them a tonne i would love a new Getaway (Since others are suggesting it :P) and i know that the moment i tell my nephew about it he would be there buying himself a PS4 for it, he LOVED the first 2 :)

I hope its Ridge Racer, now done by Brits so the environments obviously need fish'n'chip joints, fuzzy hat guard-dudes and the queen waving as you drift.
