How many people are sticking with 7th-gen MGS Ground Zeroes?

Ground Zeroes just isn't reason enough for me to get a PS4, and I actually haven't bought any of the games that are cross-gen yet (unless you count buying Tomb Raider a year ago, Rayman Legends at its original launch, and the free copy of Assassin's Creed IV that came with my graphics card). In light of this and Konami's own seemingly honest comparisons, Ground Zeroes looks good enough on PS3 in my opinion.

Despite Kojima mostly promoting the PS4 version at this point, it still seems to me like GZ (and Phantom Pain) was primarily developed on PS3 and 360 first, and Kojima just really liked the results when he brought the code to 8th gen. It doesn't look like THIEF, where Eidos basically destroyed the visuals to get it running on PS3. It still looks like a 7th gen game that has improved resolution and effects on 8th gen.

Also there's the $10 difference if you get the PS3 or 360 version digitally.

We'll see where the PS4's exclusive lineup sits by the time Phantom Pain comes out.

I'll grab it on 360 or PS4 when I see it on sale for 20 bucks or less on disk. These two games were definitely designed around the limitations of the PS3 and 360. It is too late for them to do anything really.

I don't see how GZ would compel anyone to buy a ps4. Maybe Phantom Pain itself, but a 2 hour demo as a system seller? lol

By the time TPP comes out I would be playing on PS4 or XBO primarily anyway so I don't see why I wouldn't just grab GZ on it now.

They're the same price here anyway. >_>

Metal Gear series is the only thing I own on disc for PS3, including the ZOEHD collection, and GZ will be no exception. PlayStation has always been my Hideo box, so I'll just hold my PS3 til they allow the PS4 to have PS3 BC.

Yup, ÂŁ20 for the PS4 disc. Going to blast through it and see if it's worth getting the 100% over a weekend, then it should still have some trade value for Infamous, so it should work out swimmingly.

I haven't heard of anyone saying they want a PS4 just for Ground Zeroes..

But if you have one, why wouldn't you get the best version?

Honestly, I prefer it that way. If it was built for next-gen from the ground up I doubt KojiPro would have aimed for 60FPS. It's the main reason why I'm hoping that the 360/PS3 versions of The Phantom Pain don't get cancelled, because I have no interest in 30FPS Metal Gears any more :P

So, yeah, I bought my PS4 a couple of weeks ago specifically for Ground Zeroes and Infamous.

Nothing wrong with getting the game on 360 or PS3 if you don't have a next gen console... Especially considering it's a smaller MGS title (hence the price). Definitely don't think anyone should get a new 8th gen system solely due to the game (except maybe really hardcore MGS fans).

Still debating on whether or not to get it this month for the Xbox One. I would definitely get it this month if it came out before Titanfall.

As long as anything is cross-gen, I usually buy it for the 360 or PS3. I've already invested money into this generation, and I want to get as much out of it as possible.

Nope.

I'll get a PS4 in a year or two, and if it's sub $20 then, I'll buy it. It's not like I need to play it day 1, it's just a prologue. TPP on the other hand, if I don't have a PS4 by the time it comes out and the reviews are glowing, it may just be a system seller.

Agreed....how anyone could consider GZ as a reason to buy a console is baffling ...the game is how long? 2 hours >? If OP is looking for a reason to buy a PS4..there is plenty of other 2014 games that make it more worth buying a PS4 for. Even myself as a PC gamer that has a pretty solid gaming rig right now...even I had to buy a PS4 for all of its upcoming exclusives that will not be coming to PC...MLB The Show, Infamous, DriveClub,The Order,etc...those games are more worthy of a reason to buy a PS4.

That said...GZ, like others have said, is simply another nice looking cross-gen game. I cannot wait for these cross-gen games to get the heck out of the way ..because these multiplats all coming out right now and the foreseeable future are still and will continue to be cross-gen games for the most part..give or take a few but most will be nothing but cross-gen stuff that will keep holding back the new hardware from more cutting edge engines, effects,physics,etc...

I'm gonna toe the line on this one. I'll just wait for the day after, when everyone is returning their used PS4 copies of the game because they beat it and were disgusted by how short it was, then I can wait another week, and Gamestop witll be flooded with the discs. I suspect prices will tank to $15 physical for both generations versions with a month.

More like $26.99 used the first 3 months it's out. Unless your gamestops are different then the ones I've been to?

30FPS for MGS games is unacceptable, so PS4 version for me.

and please stop calling GZ a demo FFS.

You say that like there's ever been a 60fps MGS game...aside from the 2 & 3 HD...all MGS have had a variable framerate which is much worse than 30fps.

Anyways MGS4 made me get a PS3...but I think Ill wait for MGS5 (not GZ) to get a PS4.

I already have a PS4, so there's my answer.

But actually, I think I'd play it on the best Playstation console (not a fanboy but Metal Gear and PS have history), or not at all.

I don't know if Ground Zeroes itself would be enough to buy a PS4 over... but it's one of those factors that push me to get one, so as not to constantly play the inferior version of cross-gen consoles.

Considering how I was worried when it was announced that I wouldn't have a PS4 by the time the game came out, I never considered getting the PS3 version.

I'm not buying any version actually. I think the whole deal is a ripoff. I'd pay $15 or so for the less-than-2h-experience, but $30. No thanks. And I'm quite sure it will go to PS+ some day, so I can check it out then - be it PS3 or PS4 version, I don't care.

I'm getting it on my current gen 360. Then when TPP is released, there will probably be a package with GZ in it, at least for next gens. I'll get it on PS4 at that moment.

I'm a sucker for MGS goodness.

MGS2 was 60 on PS2 (with 30FPS cutscenes, IIRC). But, regardless, replaying 2, 3 and Peace Walker in the HD Collection and watching that comparison trailer for Ground Zeroes have proven that 60FPS is the One True Metal Gear Framerate. Accept no substitutes.

PS4 will never have native BC. Ever.

Here we go. I hope you aren't like the people in the WWE network thread claiming that nothing on NTSC standard definition was 60FPS.

Or maybe you never actually played MGS2 on a PS2.
It fucking blows my mind people out there thought WWE was shot in 60fps let alone any TV.
like this.

Runs (and looks) better on PS4/X1 so that's what i will go with. If i just had a 360 or ps3 i would go with that but why would i pick the shittier version if i have the option to get the superior version?

As the for the price, $30-40 isn't much. I, like most people have paid $60 for games as equal length (i go with 4-5 hours, not 2. I, like most, don't rush through) and paid $60 for games much less polished.
