Not much is known about this event, other than Nokia is doing it during build sometime during the first day. Rumours are reporting it as everything from just new devices to a full out Smart Watch. All we know is that its sure to be interesting as there are quite a few unknown icons which scroll by on Nokia's official promotional image.

They better keep Cortana as the name for the virtual assistant and it better be voice by Jen Taylor. My wife is due for a phone upgrade, show us what you got Nokia.

An open app store for XB1 is looking less and less likely. Although there could still be a few surprises I suppose.

Yep :(

Was just reading the ZDNet stuff and it appears Win9 will have two versions? Tablet/Phone and then a desktop version that still has the desktop I am assuming? Will current phones be able to get that upgrade, I was planning on getting the 1020 follow-up whenever that launches, but this might make me wait a bit since it sounds like a rather larger change.

So we can expect Windows stuff (Windows 9, maybe about future Windows 8 updates) to be talked about on April 3rd and 4th?

How extensive is W9 going to be, we think? Very vague stuff?
They haven't started development yet, but rumour has it that they will be doing the big vision stuff.

Supposedly they will talking about how they are going to improve it over Windows 8.1, plans to make it more keyboard/mouse friendly, plans for a combined app store and some other stuff. From what I've read, it wont be super vague stuff, they'll have some substance.

No Keynote on the 4th. It will either be on the 2nd or 3rd

they will talk about Windows 8.1 update 1 in detail since it is releasing to MSDN members on the 2nd and everyone else on the 8th. They will talk about their high level plans for Windows 9 which I guess will come out next Spring. don't think they have started developing the next update to windows though, so maybe they will ask for user feedback before they get started.

Interested in Windows 9, Windows 8.1 Update 1, maybe new hardware and some talks.

More exited for TechEd though!

Excited! So many things I'm looking forward to this year, not sure if I will have enough time for everything I want to watch.

Can't wait to see some of the juicier details of Win9, none of the updates in the world are going to save 8 in the public's eye.

I'd say as much as Win8 all things considered.

I am profoundly not interested in vision talk from Microsoft. They seemingly always have great vision, but then they have to "rein in" as the development process converges. See Project Natal -> Kinect, etc.

Can't wait for WP8.1 and new Nokia devices!

And I wasn't expecting Windows 9, but I'll carefully look at this before thinking of a day one upgrade.

I didn't know we were expecting Windows 9 news, that's pretty interesting. Mostly looking forward to Window Phone 8.1 stuff but now there is even more to look forward to.

Yep (WinRT to be precise). What do you mean by closer?
Meaning that if developing a WinRT app on X1 is the same as Win 8.x minus UI/input difference, than wouldn't developing for 8.x WinRT make more sense than Phil's ID@Xbox suggestion?

Cause that's the Xbox side of the OS, not the Windows side for apps.

Wow. Windows 9? Is it that time already?

It would be released around three years after 8. Unlike most previous version, 8 has been actively receiving the kind of updates that would normally be relegated to a new version number. 9 sounds like more of a branding opportunity than any radical change in comparison to the current version of Windows.

The next big thing is small

We’re bringing Windows to a whole new class of small devices. Build a smart coffee mug, build a talking bear, build a robot, or build something else entirely. All this using a platform and tools you already know and love.
Hi, Tech Support? My Coffee Mug is not working.

..ok....maybe that support call isn't such a stretch for now, but in a few years?! i can't wait to be googling coffee mug error codes.

I'm really interested in WP8.1
I'm fed up with Android and want to jump back to WP. Hope 8.1 has some significant improvements over WP8.
