Dark Bomba II PC - 20% off at GMG - $40

I posted this over in the DSII graphics thread but I figured the general audience might appreciate the info too.

Dark Souls is 20% off on GMG with discount code: O3H7FE-D4NFO0-F0LIGK

That brings the price to $40USD for those interested.

For those who don't know, GMG also has a Playfire service, where you can link your Steam account and they'll add cash credit to your GMG account for completing challenges.

Challenges are stuff like playing a game for the first time and getting particular achievements.

I've been doing Playfire for the past ~2 weeks and it's how I'm getting Dark Souls II for this price

Almost all the credit is from me just occasionally getting achievements in games the past 2 weeks.

Right now I think they've got offers for a bunch of worms games, Super Meat Boy, and Fez and you can get the credit mad easy.

I probably sound like I'm shilling hard for GMG but it's legit just a superb deal all around and more people need to know about the whole Playfire thing. It's kind of ridiculous how much credit they give out.

Also, if you don't want to actually invest the time in the game, as long as you at least own it, some people have totally used Steam Achievement Manager to just unlock the achievements and get their credit that way.

If you cancel your preorder, you get your credit back if you applied it to the original purchase right? GMG

I asked this in the other thread, but do they email me a cd key before the release date so I can preload or do they email the cd key on the release date?

They usually will send the key out a few days before release but there have been some exceptions. At the moment they haven't put them out yet.

Every game I've bought from GMG so far they send the keys days in advance. I'd expect it early next week.

Hoping I can use a VPN to unlock it early.

How the hell do i even sign up on Playfire? If i try to make an account, it says my email is already in use, so i try to log in with my GMG log in info, but then it asks me for a "Playfire password" wut? If you won't let me register, how the hell am i supposed to have a Playfire password, beyond my regular GMG one?

So i verified my account through the SUPPORT page, got the email, put in the password, verified it!

But then i go back to the playfire site aaaaand it still locks me in the "enter your playfire password to verify your account" page, and of course it won't accept the password it just accepted a second ago.

What the fuck it this? Also don't they have a straight up contact email support, instead of these goddamn tickets?

EDIT: Whatever, opened a ticket.

Anyway, 20% is aight, but i'll wait for a more substantial price drop, and also to see some reviews of this PC version.

I pre-ordered this for full price on Steam within the first hour it was up, instead of calming down and waiting for some deals closer to release... its not like they were going to run out of copies of the digital version!

I regret nothing!!

Unless you are European. In that case, GMG prices suck as usual and there are far better options.

Nuuvem usually has some pretty hot prices if you're comfortable buying from a brazilian site.

I've never had any issues with them.

In fact, at one point I bought a Saints Row 4 key from them on pre-order and when they learned that the keys they were getting were going to be region locked, they went out of the way and ensured that everyone who pre-ordered got a ROW key instead of a brazillian locked one, which was pretty awesome.

I prefer "Bomba Souls" myself.

This was a choice I may regret for the rest of my life.

Games drop in price so quickly. What's the point in buying them day one or preordering them anymore?

Especially for a game like Dark Souls II, to be part of the zeitgeist. The game is all about discovery and being there discovering with others and being part of a group of people all playing the game together is a really cool experience.

20% off, I'll take it. 25% less than what it'd cost on Steam, but I wish GMG would still let me pay in USD =(

That SR4 debacle was my first experience with them, which basically assured me they were trustworthy.
since then i've bought a couple more games from them, with 0 problems.

You just need to look out for any region locking, but they warn you on the page about them, so..

i'm subscribed to both playfire and GMG,i have some of those achievement for fez already on my steam account (currently linked to playfire) ,but i did not receive any money on the account...how does this reward program exactly work?

You have to link your steam account to playfire, then it'll update periodically.

It WON'T give you credit for achievements you already had. Only achievements you got DURING the promotion period.

Sometimes it takes a while for the stuff to update.

I'm waiting to buy DSII until my worms rewards update because I already owned the games and decided to finish rounding up those specific achievements.

Optimal for people that can't resist indie bundles, have a good amount of free time, and are stuck with a huge backlog of games that "they'll get to someday".

Tried to link my steam account, but it brings me to a spanish(?), version of the site and tells me my log in info for steam is not valid...

I've gotten a ton of credit for achievements I already have. Do they state on the website that you don't get credit for achievements you already have?

edit: found the page. Interesting how I got credit for achievements I've already earned. Not sure I like that idea as they're pushing/punishing people to wait to play games until it gets rewards.
