They need to release something like this worldwide for the basic price of the Wii U as the new basic Wii U package.
There already was a fake, but it's not the same pic... and it all looks quite legit.

I preordered this a while ago for CHF 299.- (In Switzerland, around USD 340 incl VAT) The normal premium bundles (i.e., SMBU, TWW) cost about CHF 360.- here, hence this seems to be also some kind of a price cut (?).
Long Story short, I couldn't wait, canceled the preorder and bought a Wii U right now with plenty of games.

Nintendo can't take a pricecut and have it succeed. That's what caused their first year of financial loss and is largely why they're still in the red

Not that I think it will even if they do cut the price.
People keep pushing for a price drop to below where 360 and PS3 are when sold as new. This is ridiculous.
People need to accept that Nintendo are already taking a loss on the system, and without third party support to aid for royalties, them selling at even more significant loss would quite possibly result in the death of the company. Price cuts aren't the be-all and end-all.
I'd be calling for Iwata's head if that happened.

Because no matter what price the WiiU seems to drop to, people will always complain its not cheap enough. If you went back to launch time threads it was full of people saying "£250 or nothing Nintendo"
Nothing new, some people actually want it to be cheaper as that's the level they put at it"being worth it", some people have no intention of buying it at all and just like to put out the perception that if it was cheaper it would sell. Happens in most threads when cost of consoles comes up reguardless of console.

Dropping the gamepad wouldn't have the cost saving amount that people seem to think it would, even if we take out the massive cost of engineering bits of the console to remove it in the first place. The 100$ saving figure that will be quoted at some point was based on the retail cost of a new pad in japan when the WiiU first came out I believe (as the console does support 2 pads, but literally nothing uses it, biggest waste of time ever that feature) so is likely not correct. There was a teardown of the pad at some point that came out with a component cost but can't remember what it was (and again, the component cost would have been guesses cause of contracts and bulk buying etc).
Most of the "work" is done by the console itself anyway, the pads a dumb receiver with a controller attached.
Seriously? The GamePad is a vital part of the Wii U. They can't just remove it.
Yeah seriously: drop the price of the thing, drop the price of the games, drop 1 AAA per month, drop Iwata, drop 1rst party strategy... Drop business reality...

Wow really? That sucks. Even in Australia you can get a PS3 bundled with a game for AUD$200 and the 360 has been under AUD$99 through cashback a few times now!
More likely 249£ and this is a fair price to be honest.

There are actually good uses of the Gamepad imo, zombiU was probably my favorite, if the game wasn't so scary for a coward like me I would have played it more
