The best anti-theft app on Android is free for 30 hours.

It's Cerberus 3rd birthday, let's celebrate!

We just published updates for Cerberus (version 2.5) and Client Cerberus (version 2.0). There are some cool new features in Client Cerberus, that will make easier to recover your lost or stolen phone from another Android device:

- Web control, like remote control from the web dashboard but integrated into the app

- Touch the device name and you'll see a navigation icon, that will start "Navigation Mode" : the Google Maps navigator will start, and Cerberus will update the destination if you device moves

- If you are near the lost device, touch the radar icon to start "Radar Mode": WiFi hotspot will be started on the lost device and Client Cerberus will display the network signal, so you should have a very good indication (better than GPS) on how near you are to the lost device.

Oh, and since it's Cerberus birthday we need to celebrate: all new accounts created for the next 30 hours will get a free license! The promotion starts now (midnight GMT) and ends at 6 AM of April 26.

Cheers for this, didn't know it existed, just having fun on my Nvidia Shield with it. I feel like blokey out of Person of Interest. Records audio, hides itself, activates camera, forces through audible messages, keeps a location history, pulls sms and call logs.

Not sure if I'm impressed or a bit scared.

The app on the play store is free I think, you just have to buy a license once the trial period is up. With the promotion, as I understand it, all accounts who register during the period get a free license added to their account.

Question: I have Cerberus hidden behind a number I have to enter in the phone app from a while ago. I can't remember the number though, and can't even launch the app or delete it now. What can I do to un-hide it?

You can log in on the website and unhide it IIRC.

Thanks, just tested it and I really like it. Replaces my Watchdroid. If you have rooted your device, I recommend making the app a system app. That way, it can survive a wipe and can enable GPS even if you normally haven't enabled it.

Ah yes, I forgot to say that if you have a phone with an unlocked bootloader + custom recovery like TWRP or Clockworkmod, you do have additional features. These additional features include hiding the app by disguising it as a "System" app and also you can install it via .zip flash so it integrates to your ROM. This will make it survive factory resets if the person who found it/stole it ever tries to.
