Just like its predecessor Rebellion and 505 Games’ ‘Sniper Elite 3’ takes a second successive week at No1 (-36%).

Ubisoft’s ‘Watch Dogs’ (-20%) takes a third week at No2 and EA’s ‘FIFA 14’ climbs 3 places to No3 (+15%) thanks to some price activity on old gen versions - this also affects ‘2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil’ which climbs back in to the Top 10 at No8 (+5%). Nintendo’s 3DS ‘Tomodachi Life’ continues to surge up the charts rising five places to No11 (+53%) thanks to various promotions across retail. It is a slow week for new releases but the overall market only drops 3% in units over last week thanks to a surge in the budget sector, climbing 15% in terms of units sold over last week.

That Tomodachi rise

Wow. Seeing the PS4 version of Sniper Elite 3 at the top spot for a second week while the Xbone version comes in at number 8 is actually pretty shocking.

Anecdotally speaking I don't anybody who is even talking about Microsoft's new console let alone actually owing an Xbone but seeing it there in 'black and white' is still eye opening.

Sniper Elite became really popular in recent years. Shows that A or AA can still survive in this market. Would be nice to see more of those games again.

When was the last time the PS held all the top three spots?

UK placements remain interesting considering the strong reversal from last-gen. MS still has some work cut out for them to get to a place they're happy with I would imagine.

Yup. Sniper Elite has been popular for a while. I vaguely remember Elite 2 charting very well and having long legs.

It's a good series. I haven't bought Elite 3 yet due to the complaints about numerous bugs and glitches.

I'm really surprised by the absolute dominance PS4 software is having in the UK. I had honestly expected that with the price cut and positive press the Xbox would have reversed some of the trends from the start of the year, but clearly not. Every single franchise seems to be doing significantly better on the PS4 and the XBO, even staples like Call of Duty and Fifa.

To be fair WD could also be helped by being bundled. PS4 is clearly dominating besides WD, I just wanted to point out that we can't discout Titanfall due to bundles and be amazed about the WD performance on PS4.

There wasn't going to be much of a boost when the TF bundle was available for the same price as the price cut weeks ahead of any official announcement.

sniper elite still on to well deserved

The retail releases of Minecraft continue to astound me - talk about an evergreen title! I wonder what its position would be if the two editions were numbered together each week.

Ultimately, PS4 sold strong early, in huge amounts. People deciding on which to buy now are going where their friends are (PS4).

I think we won't see huge pump on xbone sales until fall. There are still millions of 360 players they really need to convince to buy xbone.

MK8 includes bundles as well in UK charts, so...a possibly good sign for hardware sales too?

PS4 is moving a lot of software. That's good. 360 still holding on strong. Surprised that Watch_Dogs is higher on 360 than on XBO. I've always felt that UK has been more pro-XBO than US, as of late, but even there it's not doing them any favours.

Well, it's clearly not 'triple-A', which is typically polished big-budget games like Mario Kart 8, The Last of Us or Batman: Arkham Knight. 'AA' games are usually good games from a smaller development team and made with a lower budget.

Mario Kart 8 has good wheels.

Titanfall @ sub £30 in most places will help its sales.

Multiplatform games on xbone however, dropping off a cliff after their initial launch week.

MK8 and Tomodachi will give Nintendo a huge smile.

Well, since the GFK PR itself talked about Tomodachi promotions, that had an impact.

Still, I think it impacted also how Amazon had it in stock for a full week, after weeks in which it wasn't available at all, if not through third party retailers, and with an increased price.

Look at the placements of multiplatform games. All way higher on PS4.

Look at all the multi releases, see the difference between PS4 and One and tell me there isn't a difference between them.

It's true that this isn't a "domination", since Xbox One has more titles than PS4 in chart, but multi releases doing better / much better on PS4 is still a sign of strength.

This doesn't bode well for the XO, the Kinect-less XO has been available for a while now.

Good for PS4. Nintendo is doing well with MK8 and Tomodachi, but only two games in the charts isn't good for Nintendo as a whole unfortunately.

And that is in MS strongest country. Xbox One is way behind in other PAL markets.
