Do you avoid fast food?

I used to eat quite a bit of fast food on the regular, and I live in America so it's pretty prevalent around here (although my local city of Burlington VT has the auspicious honor of being the only major city in the US with no McDonald's; it's been replaced by a gastropub with local farm-raised meat for their burgers...only in VT). When I was 15 or so I remember going to summer camp and going on an off-site trip. We stopped at Burger King and for like $10 I had a massive feast of rodeo cheeseburgers, mozzarella sticks, and other foods that were terrible for me.

I knew this food was bad for me but I had a good teenage metabolism at the time and shrugged it off. Then I stopped eating fast food as often, then I was eating it semi-frequently again when I discovered some deliciousness at Wendy's a year or two back. I rarely eat it anymore, though. I'm avoiding gluten and dairy anyway so my options would be pretty non-existent, but I just don't like how bad the food is for me and how unwell it makes me feel to eat it, especially the less often I eat it.

Anyway, wondering about similar experiences with fast food. Did you eat it growing up, and do you eat or avoid it now? I should mention as a kid fast food was a rare treat since we ate super healthily in my home and it was frowned upon to eat fast food, so that probably contributed to my glorification of it as a teen and younger adult.

Occasionally. Maybe once every 2 weeks I'll get a kebab or something.

As a kid it wasnt a treat but nor was it forbidden. I could go get a burger or something whenever but I never found it that great.

i try to. had some zankou chicken today, though.

i lived off fast food when i was younger, being poor as fuck and all. i remember my friends and i would stroll over to AM/PM at 4 in the morning to get some of the shitty hamburgers for cheap.

I try my best to avoid it, but it doesn't always work out so well all of the time. However at my old job it was never a problem. We ate lunch cooked by a chef in the office and of course, I had the typical 9-5 work schedule. I never ate fast food then.

What I try to do on Sunday is prepare my dinners for the entire week...doesn't always work out so well. I'd have to make it my primary priority to be consistent at it.

I avoid them, only because they don't taste that great. McDonald's is more of a chemical engineering marvel than a culinary delight.

But, sometimes you want a cheap meal on the road and a hot beef injection to your pleasure centers.

I tell myself that i'm gonna avoid it all the time, but i end up having it 1-2 times a week. Fast food places have been disappointing me more and more lately though, so that might actually cause me to cut down more

I do now that I'm on a diet.

After I'm done slimming down (will be a while), I do expect to eat fast food on occassion, but nowhere near what I was eating before.

I ate it about 7-8 times a week during school. It was convenient and tasty, during the end of my senior year I began to go to Safeway for their soups and sandwiches which were really top notch. Now I try to avoid the greasier fast food restaurants ex Taco Bell and KFC. I go to Safeway and Quizno's. Whenever I go back to Taco Bell my appetite goes away.

I don't avoid it I simply actually go there maybe 5 times a year. There just aren't any in the proximity. I don't like McDonalds. Burger King is acceptable. That's it.
In Italy we have one called Old Wild West (I don't know if it's in other countries too), it's not really a fast food but it's close. I love it but I go there maybe once every three months.

Fiday is snack day here at work, so i'll get fries and and frikandel speciaal or something.
Other then that i try to avoid it.

I used to have McDonald's on a Saturday lunchtime whilst catching up with people (especially in the summer), but haven't had fast food for 8 years now. My wallet and stomach are thankful, i.e. I'd be a skint fat bastard now otherwise...

Only when I am somber or feeling great, but if I am drunk and feeling slightly down, I'll hit up Wendy's, Shake Shack, McDonalds, and Five Guys like there is no tomorrow.

Sometimes I just really have that urge for a burger and fries or something. Then I gotta have it. But otherwise I try to avoid it - it's too expensive overall.

I don't eat it often. I had a McDonald's when I was in India last month because I wanted to try the local variants, but that was the first time I'd eaten fast food this year.

I used to get Wendy's at least three times a week as a kid.

I avoid all fast food like the plague now.

I won't eat it for three months and then have a terrible binge for a week before I feel revolting and revert back to my old ways.

I enjoy the binges .______.

A lot of the newer fast food options around here are pretty "fresh" though anyway, so most the time I eat at those ones and it's not too much harm done.

About once every 6 months or so. So when I do eat it, I enjoy it immensely. But it's definitely not something I would consider doing more frequently.

In my late teens, early twenties I ate McDonalds/BurgerKing considerably more often, but I've changed for the better. For which my bowels also thank me.

I haven't had a McDonalds burger in over 16 years. Went there once with colleagues and had a salad, which was horrid. Sometimes buy coffee from them.

Recently tried Subway that was opened where I live. It's ordinary at best.

Overall, I rarely eat fast food.

I stop at McD's and grab a grilled chicken salad occassionally.

I also like to treat myself with a drive-thru panera smoothie.

I would murder a puppy for a tray full of wendy's fries and chili

I very rarely eat fast food. If I'm in a bit if a hurry I'll grab a sandwich from Panera or Subway or a local deli etc.

I try to eat pretty healthy. And if I'm going to have something terrible for me like a burger I'd rather get a good burger from a pub or real burger joint rather than a shitty fast food one.

Eh, mostly. The "fast food" I do get is not usually unhealthy, though of course its nutritional value could be said to not be the best. An example would be Subway...I don't go often, but when I do, I often get turkey. I know the bread is horrible, and lots of the ingredients probably are not of great quality, but it's not like a "sinful" meal. Bar food, on the other hand, which is not "fast" in any sense of the word, can be pretty terrible. Pair that with beer, and it's worse than fast food :lol

I don't think anyone who actually eats fast food regularly wants to post in here for feelings of shame.

I'm pretty bad. My lunch usually consists of Subway or a Pizza slice during the week days. So about 3-4 times a week. Sometimes I will grab a burger from a real burger joint.

American fast food is so cheap that I can see people eating regularly. Here in Denmark it is expensive enough that most people don't eat it every day.

Ate it all the time when I was a kid. Now I avoid it 99% of the time. I do still go to coffee shops if that counts as fast food, and if I'm starving and near a McDonalds I'll get an oatmeal or something.
I use to eat Subway a lot in my adulthood as well, but I don't think I've had any of that in years.

The only good purpose of fast food is to be an occasional treat. I have it once every few weeks. Once a month on average, I'd say.

If you find yourself addicted to it or, god forbid, a part of your everyday lifestyle... you have an issue not unlike smoking or killing hookers.

Take steps to walk away.

I guess that depends on the definition of fast food. Are we talking about chain restaurants?

I haven't eaten at a McDonald's in 7+ years. When I have friends who want to eat at a fast food place, I just hang out with them there and I don't order anything.
I probably have fast food maybe... 2-3 times a year.

Hell no. I eat it whenever I can afford to. Luckily I have an ultra fast metabolism and dont have to worry about it sticking to me.

If Subway Veggie Delite is considered fast food, no.

If not, yes.

If we're travelling on the road for hundreds of miles, will get a McDonalds fish meal (if no Subway available). Don't care for milkshake anymore. Will go for a shawarma if I'm desperate for some meat.

Mostly eat home food. I need to learn some more cooking so I'm ready for an eventual marriage.

When I was in college I'd have a McDonalds or Subway or something once or twice a week since it was close by but I hardly have any nowadays.

Don't actively avoid it, but don't eat it much either. Maybe once, twice a month I eat fast food and it's normally is for convenience (Motorway service station). I much prefer eating in a proper restaurant or cooking meals at home.
