I would love to see a Guardians of the Galaxy game by a competent developer.

Mahbe I'm still high from the hype of the movie but I feel like the universe would fit so well in a video game.

Bungie or BioWare are the first developers to come to mind for a game like this, who would be your dream developer for a game set in this world?

Or an action game from Platinum Games based on the DnA run (blue-&-red uniforms included), with a story written by Dan Abnett (& Andy Lanning if they can get both, but they've split up since the GotG Prelude comics). The movie costumes would be alternate costumes available from the start.

You're Welcome, Marvel.

I've been thinking the same thing. The Borderlands games are what come to mind for me. Very colorful visually, goofy universe, great weapons, co-op, etc.

Boom.

Action game for action comics.

Yeah that'd probably be a fun game if done right. But I'd rather it not be a 'movie tie-in' game, but have its own unique Guardians of the Galaxy related story. I don't want to walk territory I've already just walked in the theater.

Saw this movie yesterday. It's actually popular? Sure it wasn't bad, but I certainly didn't feel like it was good. Well, w/e.

If a movie for this does happen, I would hope that it wouldn't focus on the crew shown in the movie and instead explores the universe. Always interested in Sci-fi games.

A galactic Borderlands-style Platinum action game with GotG material not covered in the movie.

Lawd.

What you'll probably get is a Lego game

So true it hurts. But I'd love it.

I'd rather get the worst to make it. iOS/Android exclusive, FTP microtransactions, and serious QA issues only fixed months later after nobody plays it anymore

We didnt even get that nice Avengers game....

I think a Lego game is the only thing we will see... God i hate Lego games....

I don't understand why it is so difficult to create a video game based off of a superhero(or group of). I feel like everyone has to be see the quality of the Arkham games...Why not apply that level of Quality to a Guardians of the galaxy prequel.

I can see a game focused on Quill or Gamora's upbringing...or even better, a Rocket Raccoon and Groot team-up origin story.

You need a decent budget and a solid developer while also giving them a proper amount of time to work on it. More often than not with licensed games they're on a small budget, they have to launch alongside the movie, and as a result the better developers don't want to have anything to do with that schedule.

or revive that ea chicago game that got canned and retool it to make it a power stone type game with massive destructive enviroments and add a good marvel roster with some of the guardians added in as well

I don't even know what they're doing with their licenses at the moment. Lego stuff is white noise to me at this point as we've had Lego Everything by now. Free to play fighting game by a free to play farm is one of the more painful choices. The Marvel Heroes MMO may be the best current project and the least phoned in although it's not a genre that appeals to me they seem to be doing good stuff there. Did the first Infinity thing catch on? I can see why they'd do stuff in that venue but the point I'm getting at is, they've suspended all licenses with more traditional companies. Capcom, Activision (they still seem to have Spidey, but only for movie license stuff??), Sega (no big loss there) and EA.

They could be riding the wave into this realm, but the pulling of all old projects in digital marketplaces suggests they aim to do otherwise. I'd get it if they'd pull together an overarching vision or try and do something like a Marvel gameverse, but it doesn't look like it at the moment. Stuff's in the vault and I have no clue what the long term plan is.

After beating LEGO Marvel I feel like I'm burnt out on LEGO games for the whole generation.

To be fair, this is the one Lego game i keep checking prices from time to time.... only because i really really want some sort of Avengers game.

But your comment is (another one) putting me out of this plan

We all would.

But this is Marvel.

So all we'll get are phone games or isometric RPG's.

That fucking marvel fighting game.

THAT FUCKING MA...shit. ::Kicks over bucket::

When watching the film I did sort of imagine it in a Destiny/Borderlands setup. I think that would really work. FPS with customization and RPG elements and explorable worlds would be a good way to go IMO.

To be fair Lego Marvel is the second best Lego game out there next to LEGO CITY Undercover which is Wii U only, I highly recommend it. And I beat it on Both PS3 and PS4 (Plat on Both)

Don't let Bioware anywhere near it. Naughty Dog possibly, perhaps CD Projekt Red.

Should be narrative driven planet-hopper, akin to Ratchet & Clank but with something quite tactical for the combat. Maybe some sort of party-system with character swapping?

If it isn't a squad shooter like Republic Commando (but with powers), and those are dying, then I don't see the point.

...Only 2 of the 5 in the story use guns.

Hell, even with the extended guardians, there are more sword weilders than gun users.

Considering Marvel is at the height of their universal popularity, it's fucking crazy that this crap is what's being made.

I'd love to see any Marvel game by a competent developer. Sadly, it'd probably be one of those higher AA-tier licensed games, and the companies like Volition that could really pull it off are busy with their own stuff now.

At least Lego Marvel was fantastic, I look forward to the inevitable follow-up.

Real wish though? Bioshock Knowhere.

Got curious about the gif, made the search and the answer is "Comic-Con: Marvel to Launch ‘Contest of Champions’ Mobile Game"

I think i my life was better when i didnt knew about this

I'd probably sacrifice a finger to be able to go back to that period when most console games based on Western licenses were handled by Japan.

In fact, I can't remember the last time when there was a single one.

Marvel is owned by Disney, they don't care about video game anymore.

Not surprised in the slightest, it's much cheaper to squeeze out a mobile game instead of investing more money in a full fledge game.

I was just talking about this that I'm sad that we don't see many licensed games anymore. Put in the right hands, they can be pretty awesome.

As for me, I would have loved a Ratchet & Clank style game with at least a couple levels of flying the Milano!
