They make it sound liek a mix of homeworld and Bladur's gate... is that what this is? The ships are essentially what would have been your party?

If so... man, mind blown and I'm psyched!

COMMAND YOUR FLEET
Build, maintain and strategically use up to 13 ship types to deploy into battle, each with distinct tactical uses during grand strategic space warfare.

Sounds very good, let's see it in action.

Looks like Homeworld. Shweet. Mech games may be dead, but I can get over that so long as the space games keep on flowing.

Why are space simulators etc always on PC but rarely come to consoles? It's so sad.

Generally space sims have a very large amount of available commands which favor a joystick+keyboard combo. For this particular case it's an RTS, and that favors KB+M, especially in a case where you have a 3d plane of movement.

Admittedly though, controllers aren't really terrible for conventional space sims beyond the limited amount of inputs(Though, if you think about it a lot of the extraneous stuff could be moved to menus).

Shame that it seems there's no 3D combat, but still looks great

Yeah. So it might be more Sins of a solar empire in its combat(which is admittedly not its strongpoint).

I'm guessing for two reasons, the first being that's where the audience for these games are right now, particularly the more complex ones like this. And secondly there's a more vibrant mid-tier market on PC right now that there is anywhere else, and Space Sims are as mid-tier as they come.

Paradox don't usually wait this long before announcing a game whereas this seems to be right around the corner. Especially for such an easy sell as "space RTS". Not sure if that's a good sign.

The project might have been picked up by Paradox only recently

The studio is working on this title since 2012. It's a decent amount of time, and considering that the had the money to hire american TV and movie stars, this probably isn't a low budget game.

Mid-tier doesn't have to mean low budget, just not something as massive as a AAA budget. You know, a healthy budget.

Awaiting reviews or impressions, a game coming out of nowhere and then releasing with zero fanfare usually screams avoid.

Still waiting on impressions but for 20 bucks I may end up just jumping in. Seems like a real passion project for a type of design that isn't popular these days.

I think you just described a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I am happy to take the plunge. There are enough Youtube videos of it looking great that I can swallow the $20 risk.

Looks great. I want to be hyped about this. Gonna wait until more previews come out closer to release though before jumping in. Legends of Pegasus comes to mind - I got burned there.

I've had my eye on this game since I first heard of it due to the Homeworld vibe it has, but I'm still waiting for first-hand impressions now that the game is out.

Here's an informative post by the producer which should answer some basic questions people have about the game.
