Some impressions from the regular TV-GAF thread:
Really dug the pilot

Wonder if it can keep it up

That was quite good, I'll definitely watch this.

Thanks for the link. Really liked this!

Red Band Society is probably my favorite broadcast pilot from this year. Granted, it's a short list since so much has been mediocre, but it's really lovely. I hope it can stay consistent.

The pilot is only available for another 100ish hours so why not now?

ETA: That pilot was really good. Liking all of the characters. Will definitely watch in the fall.

Really great pilot. It lived up to all the hype I had for it. Can't wait until the season starts.

Sorry for the crummy OP, the pilot being released caught me by suprise so I made this on short notice. I'll revamp it closer to when it airs.

Well, pilot sucked. The only part i liked is a montage at the end.
First of all - characters. Jordi is ok and Leo grew on me, Emma didn't do anything so it's too early to judge. All other characters suck. From black kid who follows every black character stereotype known to the world, to Octavia Spencer with her obnoxious character, with "i'm better than you" delivery. And cheerleader, oh my. How can we live without bitchy character in out teen show, am i right? Then there's this kid in a coma. I don't like his voice.
Writing was bad and cheesy.
I might watch a few more episodes, but if pilot is any indication - i'll pass.

The black kid and the black lady got on my nerves. Idk why now, but I think I'm getting sick of the stereotyical "loud, sassy black lady" and "cool, urban black kid" tropes.

That aside, pilot was interesting but I think I'm going to stay away from this series. After having Surviving Jack and TSCC cancelled, I really don't trust FOX not to cancel shows I like.

Bald kid was interesting. I liked how witty he was, especially when he first met the cheerleader.

I feel like the coma kid really isn't needed. Yeah, he's the narrator but does this show really need a narrator? Oh god, the "inbetween" part....was actually pretty interesting. Yes, I'm typing this out as I watch the episode =P. Anyway, outside of limbo, I feel like the kid isn't necessary, but I hope we have more limbo scenes because I liked him actually interacting with people.

Finally, I'm surprised I like the cheerleader the most.

Can't fault people for this, but Fox still making some quality stuff so I can't look away :(

I will say that, uh, reviews trying to say what the show will be probably shouldn't do that.

Margaret said her vision for season two is for Griffin to hand off the voiceover work to someone else, which seems like an anthology format of sorts. Would the series focus on a largely new group of kids with a few returning?

That has been the question. Right now, our order is for 13 episodes. That works very well for this show. The life span of the first 13 is about three weeks, maybe even a little less. It's not that they've been in the hospital for months. People don't live in that hospital that long. In terms of a second season, what's great is that we're wide open. I think the cable model that's happening in TV now gives you a lot of freedom. Anthology series are doing very well. People like Octavia, Dave, Rebecca and Wilson Cruz are there forever; they work at that hospital. But there is always a chance that patient stories can change. With shows like this, you grow so attached to the kids and those stories and our goal would be to keep that intact. Someone on the writing staff lived in a children’s hospital for a certain amount of time and said after she got out, she went back and worked with kids there. With this show, there are lots of ways to keep it going.

Probably not the best idea to say that no one would live in a hospital ward over an elongated period of time if the show's season will take place in a compressed amount of time.

Not for me brahs, the only character I liked was Jackson. Everyone else sans Leo and Coma Boy, I wanted to push off the roof.

Kara speaking to Coma Boy in limbo was my breaking point.

Commercials make this look like the shmaltziest, most maudlin pos to grace tv. Looks like a corny fault in our stars cash in.

Caught the pilot tonight from the DVR. Most excellent. Very well done pilot, and not even remotely cheesy like I feared it might be. I'm in.

Was pretty much tumblr the next evolution. I could almost visual those effects. Ciara Bravo and the cheerleader were pretty good compelling. Dash is a blackhole of interest and charisma. But I guess you could see why audiences gravitated towards the mysteries of lauara. I would like to see more but it oozed cheese. Need to consider moving this to FXX

New episode today:
Season 1: episode 2 "Sole Searching"

Jordi's surgery takes an unexpected turn, which sends Leo into a tailspin. Meanwhile, Kara's family tries to work their connections to help her get a heart, when what she really needs is right in front of them.

Semi watched this at the gym while doing cardio. Confused at people saying it isn't cheesy? The show delivers on every single trope of the average teen drama. The acting is surprisingly decent from the kids, though.

Hot doc sleeping with the mom :lol

i thought that was his sister? i didn't pay attention because hot bartender looked like hot prison officer from OTINB. is it him> IMDB doesn't list it but damn if thats not him.

and leo crying in the room when they came to get him.

Huh, now you are making me question it. Dunno if it was the moms or sister, now.

The only commercials I've seen of it look horrendous. I haven't seen the ones that air on cable/network, but the Hulu ads for it make it look like it's a fake tv show sponsored by some sort of product.

Can't comment on the quality of the show, but the ads for it definitely did not make me want to watch.

Definitely cheesy. Even more so in episode 2, but I'm still really enjoying it. Too bad about the ratings. Can't imagine this one sticks around much longer.

New episode today:
Season 1: episode 3 "Liar, Liar Pants on Fire"

Someone from Jordi's past shows up out of the blue and sends the hospital into chaos, while Dr. McAndrews unknowingly betrays a patient. Kara continues to test Nurse Jackson

I think we will al look back on some VH1 show ten years from now and be shocked that all this talent was on this show. It is going to be a launching pad for all non-Disney stars.

Another good episode. I'm really digging this show. I thought the mom showing up might not be good, but I like the way it played out. Nurse Brittany is adorable. Her stuff with the Dr.'s ties was pretty great. Wish the ratings were doing better :(
