The Amazing Race 25 is the upcoming twenty-fifth installment of the reality television show The Amazing Race. It will feature eleven teams of two in a race around the world for a US$1 million grand prize.

The season will premiere on September 26, 2014 on CBS for the 2014–15 television season, moving to Friday nights at 8 pm.

Yes, after so many years on Sunday, we're on Fridays now and possibly or possibly not being sent out to die, who knows.

New this season is that instead of getting the Double Express Pass for winning the first leg, the winning team now gets The Save.

The Save, introduced in season 25 of the American edition, is awarded to the winners of the first leg. This can be used to prevent the team's elimination at any point before the ninth leg of the race.

Not happy about the day change tbh, but I'll deal. Good thing I'm an old fart with nothing better to do on a Friday night besides shooting into a cave :P

Pro wrasslers?! Hmmm, that's cool. Can't wait to see who I'll love and hate, college sweethearts look entertaining, maybe I'll hate the realtors or dentists! Just happy no Brenchal or Twinnies (don't watch Survivor). Hope it's an entertaining season :)
 
Wow, I just realized that Kym is a Spin instructor at SoulCycle that I used to take classes at.

I'm digging the switch to Friday. My Sunday TV schedule is full as is.
 
Lisa and Michelle are from my hometown.

I don't personally know Michelle, but I've been told that she's actually a very successful realtor.
 
Pretty sure some dick in the YT comments spoiled who wins for me, so may end up skipping the whole thing if the reviews of ep 1 aren't glowing. Although it would have to be pretty awful to not be an improvement on the train wreck that was All Stars 2
 
Always rooted for public servants like firefighters in these kind of competitions, but after that poor performance and attitude, not any more. Taking penalty on the very first leg, these people don't deserve to win.
 
Kinda upset 3 teams quit, wtf?! Spot on with my hates, glad realtors got the boot, figured dentists would win ughh. Dude looks like Cena's dentist. Like a few of the teams thus far.

Now back to my cave :)
 
The Australia vs NZ season that just aired was probably the best season of Amazing Race I've seen since China Rush. I hope this season of the American can compare to it, because it's been pretty boring these last few years.
 
Episode one was okay. I just finished watching it, actually.

I'm not a big fan of a lot of the teams, but like the Surfers quite a bit. Hopefully they'll win. The dentists won me over, too. And the firefighters seem like good guys.

I'm glad the team I liked the least got eliminated. They were arrogant.

Amazing Race Canada has been the better show since its inception, though.

Except that TARC is made on a shoestring budget and needs to throw in its sponsors every 5 minutes. lol
 
Not bad of a season. I guess going to the Virgin Islands is interesting enough as its a new locale.

Yay, teams quitting already on the first leg. I found it hilarious they showed how close they were to the actual treasure chests.

No love lost for the first team out. Other than them, no one else really stands out in either the like or dislike.
 
What kind of first leg was this exactly?

Taxi to Flushing Meadows --> Dash to the Airport for one of 2 flights --> Taxi to Sea Plane Dock for one of 6 flights --> Jump off Rock --> Dig for Treasure

That's fucking it? Really?

Not to mention that I was disappointed that no single team pointed out the obvious with the compasses. Just flip your directions (NE=SW) and use it the way you're used to.

That next episode preview sucked too if those actually are the last two teams in the leg. Who the hell wants to know that information a week in advance?

Amazing Race US is still on my shit list. Amazing Race Philippines starts in about a week and I'm expecting a better first leg from them.
 
I'm sad that the eye candy is out already :(

And those dentists have unnaturally white teeth, like they're so white that it actually looks bad.

Not surprised, the Friday move was stupid, no one wants to spend a Friday night watching a reality show. The only thing worse would be if they moved it to Saturday night.

Gotta say my initial impression of the dentists was negative but they earned my respect. He beasted that roadblock. Right now I would say I'm cheering for surfers or the dating couple, Isabelle is really attractive. Hoping survivor couple are gone soon, they were boring on their season of survivor also Whitney cheated with Keith on the island while she had a long term bf back home.
 
Just watched this. They should have said all teams tied for last and all 3 are eliminated. Shaky start with the lame duck teams, and the dumb eye candy is already gone.

Already hate the firefighters and the black mom and daughter, always yelling at each other. Tim and Tee Jay are awful. Isabelle seems like a princess and awful. Rooting for any of those 3 to lose.
 
Yeah I knew the move to Friday was going to hurt it. Kinda bummed about the token blondes being out they seem pretty bitchy and could made great villains. Team Soul surfer for live though.

Somehow I think this is going to be the typical reaction to an Amazing Race leg this season.

This week's leg was a step in the right direction over the premiere, at least.
I'm not sure I like the idea of Phil showing up in the middle of the course pre-pit stop to let teams know exactly where they stand position-wise.
 
I know I should know better, but I am kinda displeased that the not doing the detour penalty basically amounted to nothing. It didn't even place them even further behind when the flights were only an hour apart.

Not having a roadblock bothered me this leg as well.

And I guess currents don't like long time race fans either.
 
Hi show, it would be great if you stopped spoiling who gets eliminated in the previews of the previous episodes.

First it was either that dating couple or the mom/daughter and now we had the firefighters with the leg injury.

Also not sure why you seem to have decided to drop the roadblocks after one episode in either.

Eh, the detour wasn't bad since fun with animals is always great, the sheep task was ok.

The dentists are turning up the ego as usual and it's getting kind of creepy since it feels he's getting off on hearing himself say how good he is, that girl wrestler gives up at a drop of a hat. The surfers are still pretty awesome and I'll always enjoy the scientists using SCIENCE to help them.

Better than Sunday where it gets in the way of Football. Or after 60 Minutes or whatever-tf. I gotta catch up. CBS.com or something right? I haven't watched a season since the 2 best friends from the bayou that got carried through their last two legs of the race with TV Magic. As awesome as they were. Used to be a dedicated watcher too.
 
Don't forget even distribution of roadblock tasks. They seemed to drop that to get entitled brat Dave the win last season.
 
The teams are predominantly boring, and the show is as well. It lacks spark and energy.

I'll still watch it, but America's race has lost its mojo.

Go surfers, food techs or dentists.

Well, now we can't complain at all because now nobody needs to do roadblocks to win the race. How convenient!
Instead we get the outcome of race legs determined by whether you go to a clueless local or a smart local when trying to determine where the pit stop's mysterious location is.
Because that's just as exciting as watching a leg determined by who drew the lucky cab driver.

You're probably right. Which is unfortunate because Amazing Race Canada managed to put together a compelling season with plenty of roadblocks for a guy with prosthetic legs and they made it all the way to Final 3.

Luckily both Canada and Australia's TAR's have been really kick ass these last couple of years. I hear Australia vs New Zealand didn't do very well though. :(

god damn it, why did this have to be a non-elim

the tasks were pretty great this time, that flower pot

I still like the scientists. I feel like the wrestlers will luck their way far. The cyclists did an amazing job this episode. It's kinda weird seeing the front runners from the first three legs suddenly in the bottom.

I feel like Jim's stare can kill.
 
This was easily the best episode of the season and it's not even close.
Nice to see roadblocks return. The level of detail needed for each of the tasks was great to see as well.
Loved seeing the tension on the mat with Shelley & Nici. Got a kick out of Kym hustling for food at every challenge.
And seeing the dentists get humbled was a treat. I didn't even mind the save play attempt fakeout but I'm a little cheesed that they didn't mention that Team Teeth will have to complete a speed bump next week.

Not only that but why would you burn a U-Turn on making an enemy out of someone that was guaranteed to be safe and would be coming after you the next leg?
The right call was to either U-Turn the team they did or to not U-Turn anyone at all. It wouldn't have made a difference regardless.
 
Oh right, this aired tonight.

Uh, this episode and leg felt dull. Besides learning the scientists have been and still are absolutely terrible with directions, everything else felt typical.
