It’s 1986 in California and a group of friends will live the summer of their lives after a mysterious discovery in woods outside their quiet town. By uncovering an artifact whose powers they don’t fully understand, these remarkable kids will defy the laws of Nature and somehow interact between two planes of reality: life and death. Their curiosity will trigger a series of unexpected events that will get them involved in a government conspiracy and a mysterious U.S. Army general with his own nefarious plans.

Welcome to Crossing Souls, an old-school action-adventure game with just a touch of RPG elements - coming to PC, Mac, and Linux in 2015.

DINOSAURS

I can understand why some people might be burned out on indie pixel art games... but damn this one is hitting all those 80's nostalgia notes just right.

Bit misleading:

Fourattic is partnering with indie game label Devolver Digital on the marketing, promotion, and distribution of Crossing Souls. With their help we will be able to reach more players, press, and platforms than we would on our own. Additionally, the Devolver Digital team will help with localization of Crossing Souls into many more languages and QA testing to help ensure it works as smoothly as possible on more system configurations upon release.

All funds raised via Kickstarter remain ours for development and Devolver Digital will handle marketing, event, and other activities to promote Crossing Souls. Through Kickstarter, Fourattic may be able to raise more funds than a publisher might provide, create a larger community for Crossing Souls, and allow our fans to be a part of development through interaction with the team and select rewards to create pieces of the game itself.

Bit misleading:

I thought it was weird when I clicked through and found a KS, the twitter post was literally:

"Devolver Digital is thrilled to announce Crossing Souls, a brilliant new action-adventure game from @Fourattic"

I didn't put Fourattic in the thread title because as far as I can tell they've never actually made any games before this one.

Great atmosphere, and it looks like it will be good, but yeah, going to have to wait and see on the developers if it's not Devolver itself.

This has a great Goonies-meets-Saturday Morning Cartoon vibe about it. Music sounds killer and I'm always a fan of well-implemented pixel art.

Looks very good and would fit perfectly on my Vita. Another promising Spanish indie game :)

I'd be more excited if Devolver was making it. If they're endorsing it I'm like... vaguely interested.
As I know Devolver always has been a publisher handling the areas mentioned by these guys in their Kickstarter, and the game development itself has been done and (at least partially) funded by external dev studios.

I'm all for this game but really Devolver, you don't have any money to fund this?

Because localization, marketing, and QA testing don't cost anything? :\

Action adventure-RPG meets ET/Goonies/Super 8? I'm in
The game is basically a 2D-zelda-style with some new gameplay features: on the one hand, you can "swap" between main characters during the gameplay. Since each one have his own "set of abilities" such as "opening closed doors" (Math), "pushing heavy objects" (Big Joe), etc, you will need to use each one at certain moments to overcome puzzles and enemies. On the other hand, you can also "swap" between 2 different "dimensions", the living and the dead one, where you will find all sort of ghosts who you can interact with (or fight with).
