GOG.com Big Fal- er, Winter Sale 2014

No topic seems to be up as I'm writing this, just letting people know the sale is active, and for a limited time (first 250,000 people) the original Age of Wonders is available for free, just scroll down past the Flash Deals to find it. Copies seem to be all gone, unknown if there will be another giveaway during the sale.

Day 11-12 Headliners:

All prior bundles are on sale, even from the first batch!

Unfortunately, Freedom Planet is no longer on sale. But it's still a great Genesis action game, and you could do worse than to use some of the cash you're saving to put it in your basket.

Thanks for the heads up. Picked up Age of Wonders and will check back later to see if there's anything that interests me.

Age of Wonders 1 is free for a limited time, scroll down and grab a copy.
Also get Freedom Planet, it's my GotY contender. If you like platformers, especially those from the Genesis era you'll likely enjoy this game too

Good looking out! Love me some free games.

I love their D&D bundle sales. Man, if you ever want to experience Baldurs Gate, IWD, PST, or NWN, you never have to wait long for a GOG blow out sale :)

Didn't they just have a big sale? GOG and Steam apparently alternate sales for the last two months of the year.

I imagine it works out better to have their sales alternate like that instead of overlap, especially for GOG since I doubt they get the traffic or sales that Steam does.

Steam's Winter sale will probably start around a week after this sale ends, IIRC it usually starts just before Christmas.

They would be giving away a limited free game while I'm at work and can't go there, will have to see if it's still available after 5:00.

I know why they do it and I'm sure it's a good idea for them. Problem is, new releases tend to come to a standstill during the sales.

Age Of Wonders 3 is really, really, really, really good.

Confirmed.

Bought Planescape spontanously. Might look into it next few days. Only played the original BG game of all those old RPGs.

I've waited through two Steam Xmas sales for Call of Pripyat to drop to 5 dollars again. Of course GOG comes through for me this year. Fuck you Steam!

I'll double-dip if Steam pulls through for me this year.

GOG'S generosity is super awesome, so many free games from them. Hopefully there will be a nice juicy flash sale on Freespace 2 which was all I wanted during the fall sale but never happened.

I'm kind of annoyed now that Freedom Planet came out on GOG after I purchased the steam version. I prefer getting DRM free when I know the option exists.

The writing is so, so good. Just make sure you use a resolution/widescreen mod since the default resolution is wayyyy too small.

So what are some classics worth checking out?

I'm looking at stuff like Syndicate Plus, Planetscape Torment, Baldur's Gate 2, etc.

What're some good sci fi game? Any other good cyberpunk games besides Syndicate and Deus Ex?

Syndicate Wars, Crusader No Remorse & No Regret for your terrestrial sci fi fun.

If you want to take to the stars there's Tie Fighter/X-Wing, Freespace 2, the Wing Commander series and the Independence War games.

If sci-fi aquatic shenanigans are your thing check out Subwar 2050 and the Aquanox series.

Want to build a galactic Empire, Master of Orion 2 is the GOAT sci fi 4x game.

Unwanted to get staker but I recall a sale of the bundle a year ago that had them @ around 7.50-10$ and I already have clear sky by itself so I'll wait.

The front page of sales is amazing... unfortunately I own everything I want.

I really like this crazy "give games away for free" thing that the digital stores have been doing lately. It's fantastic.

Agreed. It's GOAT, indeed.

Age Of Wonders 3 is really, really, really, really good. A steal at that price.
Anything lower would probably be legit illegal.

Maybe I should jump into System Shock 2 finally.

When are they gonna get Blade Runner from 1997 up on that site?
