On the DQTV stream just now, they announced the second expansion for DQ10.

With it, they announced a new playable race, the dragon tribe.

That's all of the information available at the moment, but it's pretty exciting~

Did they mention an expected release time?

Seems far away with the little info given.

No, but I don't expect it'll be that far away, because they're putting out the patch that contains the last part of the version 2 story soon.

Aeana question with DQ X did Nintendo help fund it or something?

Not as far as I know. In fact, the producer specifically said he'd like to bring it to PS4. And obviously it's on PC already.

Thanks for the reply, yeah was wondering about that. Since its like the SF V sorta deal where its on the PS4, word is Sony helped fund it and its on the PC too so was wondering about that.

I mean I have the Wii and PC versions as is, but would be nice if it eventually comes over on the PS4, then the wife can play it. Since we have 2 PS4s. I actually wouldnt mind starting over if that was the case. Really did like DQ X and can only imagine it has gotten so much better with all the content updates that came out.

My PC is kinda on the verge of bursting into flames so dont really run all that much games on it. And the Wii is well somewhere in the apartment lol.

Am guessing you all are still playing regularly?

No localization, no buy. They teased it ages ago, and still nothing. Meh.

I think they would want it on PC and maybe PS4 for a western release for a decent potential player base since Wii/Wii U is pretty much out of the picture overseas.

The Wii U is in desperate need of games, and the fact that there are no other MMOs on the platform, you'd think they'd want to take advantage of that opportunity... make it a free download with a pay to play model, or maybe a $20 purchase with pay to play if they're worried no one will buy it, if they make the barrier to entry easy enough, people will flock to it that have the platform... something! anything! Just localize the damn game already :(

I returned to the game in August after not playing it since launch. Now I'm playing it off and on, also working on a fan translation for the game in my free time (of which I've had none for the last couple of months, but I'll be picking it up again shortly). Some examples here, here, here (video).

I cannot imagine this doing anything in the west unless it's F2P. Traditional DQ games have enough trouble as it is.

Oh wow very cool! I remember your character haha. Good luck with the project and hope it turns out well. :)

I was going to get the 3DS version, but read up on the issues with the text and such and decided against it D:

How much is the subscription to this game anyways? If it ever got localized it always looked like the kind of game i'd want to play, does it play like DQ ish missions or more like wow type quests?(i know the game is real time and nothing else besides that)

Maybe if it gets ported to the PS4 we could have a decent chance of getting it in the west. SE has always said DQ games will be on the most popular system. I don't know how true that is nowadays but I still think our chances would be better.

DQX is on 3DS.

Oh, wow! Great stuff. Is the game still IP-locked though?

But it apparently was not a very good version of the game due people having a problem reading the text. Which is kinda bad considering that for quests and whatnot reading is sorta important...

Wasn't the first shipment recalled for some game-breaking reason too? I heard the mobile version is a flop.

It'd be nice to get this stateside. MMOs are lacking on consoles, but I guess it's easy to see why.

No it sold out and they withheld a second shipment until they sorted out server problems. It still is selling and did fine compared to other follow up versions to the Wii one. Get your facts straight.

Text becomes unreadable in some smaller menus, I think the story text and quest descriptions should be fine. But I haven't played the 3DS version myself.

In an earlier DQTV broadcast they mentioned there would be an Astortia School in version 3. Going after the Persona crowd? lol

They said a while ago that they'd be updating the 3DS version to correct the text size issues, but I'm not sure if that's actually happened yet or not.

This is the game that would make me play on pc. GAF, prepare to be inundated with noob questions if this comes to PC (and not ps4)

I wonder how the new tribe will work, if you have to make a new character to play as a dragon or if there will be some kind of tribe change functionality.

This has me interested, since the community did the same thing for PSO2. (I'm glad to see it's coming along, though! I expected it to be slow going... I wonder, is it possible to extract the other text, like the NPC Dialogue or what have you?) I have to wonder if a fan localization gets far enough along... how will SE react?

C&D? That seems likely, given that they're openly trying to drive people off Youtube posting Lets Plays of the game. But what if they embrace it? Tear down the IP block, nominate some of the servers or channels or whatever they call them as "Foreigner Preferred" and just open the floodgates for unofficial support. It's not like they don't have some logistics in place already -- The FFXIV / FFXI team could likely handle billing support and perhaps even basic tech stuff without much load being added, I would think.

Edit: I noticed that video is unlisted. Is it ok if I share that with the Dragon Quest IRC room or the DQ Reddit?

I'd rather not draw attention to it at this point since it's still in its infancy.

Are there any differences between the games? It looks like they all have the same contents, but the only thing that differs between the 4 versions is the graphics.

Is there any other differences between the four versions?

Version 2 and 3 are expansions. Just like expansions in any other MMORPG.

Looks like Chikara Saitou will direct version 3 as well. The latest Famitsu has a feature with creators' messages for 2015 and Saitou commented that in version 2 they added plenty of stuff typical of the DQ franchise, like the story of the hero, the monster tamer, traveling with your fellow monsters, the casino and the monster battle road. In version 3 too there will be additions of well known DQ staples like the sugoroku board game and the alchemy pot. But they also want to challenge themselves with completely new gameplay, like all being in school together.

So what we know about version 3 so far:
- dragon tribe
- sugoroku
- alchemy pot
- Astortia School
