Also, HUGE NOTE: you can TURN OFF the crosshairs by pressing on the Wiimote D-pad if you want.

Note: 2 player mode has the 2nd player controlling the ducks.

What is this, reticule dragging wii remote? Or touchpad tapping? Seems they both would be far inferior to the original.

I wish there was an option for the screen to flash white and make the shot noise whenever you pulled the trigger to emulate the original more. It seems so jarring to just have it be a point and shoot game with the Wii remote now, even if it is basically the exact same game. Guess I'm just too used to that original version, haha.

To people who bought it - can anyone show the settings screen, if there's any? How does one enter it with Wii Remote with B mapped to shooting? Can one remap buttons or turn off Wii Remote sound effects (I've heard there are some ones)?

I think that would have been removed in any case - Nintendo is pretty strict when it comes to fixing Virtual Console games to prevent seisures by removing flashing screens (Zelda II game over screen, for the first example that slipped on my mind).

Someone was playing this yesterday. He said the clicking sound of the classic Zapper is in and it comes from the Wii Remote speaker XD Really sweet.

Hell yeah, was wondering about this. What a nice touch.

Ok, THIS is awesome. Definitely downloading as soon as I get an eShop card.
i think once you adjust to the wiimote use, you'll be or can be very precise. i could shoot ducks with no problems with the crosshair off. the crosshair does ghost away after you shoot, giving you some sort of reference for your next blind shot... if that makes more sense.

there is a clicking sound from the wiimote :) may even be a zapper click soundbite... though i cannot remember what that sounds like.

A reminder that duck Hunt does indeed have a probably unintended kill screen*. With save states on VC games it should be more practical to reach that now.

*-Oh fine then I'll spoil it
After round 99 you advance to round 0. On round 0 the ducks are unhittable (they teleport around the screen), moreso even if you could hit them, the dog laughs multiple times in a row before some of the ducks even appear (I wonder if their starting coordinates are off-screen). Using a Game Genie code to always win you won't be surprised to hear you advance onto round 1.

I can't believe this was part of my Saturday morning cartoon line-up as a kid...so violent. lol

Anyway, I'm 80 points away from getting $5 back and I was in need of something to get. I will be buying this and Kirby & and the Amazing Mirror to push me over the edge. I've never played Duck Hunt before so I'm excited to try it for the first time.

FYI, the game's only a measly 37ish MB. Also, you can't use the NES Zapper. The eShop made that VERY clear when I was making my purchase.

I can't tell from trailer footage, so I will rely on eyewitness accounts...

Does the game look like shit, with a squashed aspect and a shitty filter on it, as does EVERY OTHER Wii U VC game, or does it look sharp and sweet, closer to a Super Smash Bros for Wii U NES Masterpeice?

Obviously the former. I'm surprised you're not able to tell based on the footage.

I guess I wanted to be hopeful.

God ducking dammit, it's better to dump my own cart, put the ROM I make on an SD card, and play this on a Wii the same way with a homebrew emulator then.

This is getting fucking pathetic.

Although I'm glad to see this enter the shop and hope more light games follow (NES and SNES), it's kind of silly for Nintendo to act like this game releasing is some big deal. Yeah it sold a lot of copies, but that's because of another game that was part of the package.

Speaking of which, they should have gone old-school and given it to owners of SMB free! That would have been a rad X-mas gift.
